A-STAR: The All-Sky Transient Astrophysics Reporter
The small mission A-STAR (All-Sky Transient Astrophysics Reporter) aims to locate the X-ray counterparts to ALIGO and other gravitational wave detector sources, to study the poorly-understood low luminosity gamma-ray bursts, and to find a wide variety of

X-ray outbursts of AXPs and SGRs [PDF]
We show that the X‐ray enhancement light curves of transient AXP∕SGRs can be reproduced by the active fallback disk model. We solve the diffusion equation for the relaxation of a disk that has been pushed back by a soft gamma‐ray burst.

PROBING THE ENVIRONMENT OF GRAVITATIONAL-WAVE TRANSIENT SOURCES WITH TeV AFTERGLOW EMISSION [PDF]
Recently, the Advanced Laser Interferometer Gravitational-wave Observatory detected gravitational-wave (GW) transients from mergers of binary black holes (BHs). The system may also produce a wide-angle, relativistic outflow if the claimed short gamma-ray

3D Printed Ultra‐Fast Plastic Scintillators Based on Perovskite‐Photocurable Polymer Composite
The demand for radiation detection is increasing in a number of fields, including high‐energy physics, medical imaging, and homeland security. This study serves to demonstrate the potential for the fabrication of fast perovskite‐based scintillators with complex shapes via stereolithographic additive manufacturing, representing a new path toward the ...

Very few detections have been made of optical flashes contemporaneous with prompt high-energy emission from a gamma-ray burst (GRB). In this work, we present and analyze light curves of GRB-associated optical flashes and afterglows from the Transiting ...

A biofabricated 3D in vitro model recapitulating endochondral ossification (ECO) is described, mimicking the steps from condensation to chondrogenesis and hypertrophy, culminating with vascularization of the hypertrophic construct. As a model proof of concept application, Ewing Sarcoma cells are seeded in the model, showing modifications in their ...

On the evolution of anomalous X-ray pulsars and soft gamma ray repeaters with fallback disks [PDF]
We show that the period clustering of anomalous X-ray pulsars (AXPs) and soft gamma-ray repeaters (SGRs), their X-ray luminosities, ages and statistics can be explained with fallback disks with large initial specific angular momentum.

THE IBIS SOFT GAMMA-RAY SKY AFTER 1000 INTEGRAL ORBITS [PDF]
Here we report an all-sky soft gamma-ray source catalog based on IBIS observations performed during the first 1000 orbits of INTEGRAL. The database for the construction of the source list consists of all good-quality data available, from the launch in ...

A lack of standard approaches for testing and reporting the performance of metal halide perovskites and organic semiconductor radiation detectors has resulted in inconsistent interpretation of performance parameters, impeding progress in the field. This Perspective recommends key metrics and experimental details, which are suggested for reporting in ...

Multi-instrument Search for Gamma-Ray Counterpart of X-Ray Transients Detected by EP/WXT
As a soft X-ray imager with an unprecedentedly large field of view, Einstein Probe (EP)/Wide-field X-ray Telescope (WXT) has detected many (fast) X-ray transients, whose nature is very intriguing.
