ABSTRACT Introduction Spinal cord infarction (SCI) is a rare but devastating myelopathy, characterized by a high disability rate and an unfavorable prognosis. It has often been underdiagnosed and misdiagnosed as idiopathic transverse myelitis (ITM). This study aimed to describe the clinical features, radiological biomarkers, treatments, and functional ...

Some properties of a 5-parameter bivariate probability distribution [PDF]
A five-parameter bivariate gamma distribution having two shape parameters, two location parameters and a correlation parameter was developed. This more general bivariate gamma distribution reduces to the known four-parameter distribution.

Remote Assessment of Ataxia Severity in SCA3 Across Multiple Centers and Time Points
ABSTRACT Objective Spinocerebellar ataxia type 3 (SCA3) is a genetically defined ataxia. The Scale for Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA) is a clinician‐reported outcome that measures ataxia severity at a single time point. In its standard application, SARA fails to capture short‐term fluctuations, limiting its sensitivity in trials.

A PROOF OF THE FACTORIAL APPROXIMATION VIA THE EXPONENTIAL DISTRIBUTION
The factorial of a natural number n, denoted n!, is defined as the product of natural numbers from 1 to n. This is a familiar concept to students. Although this concept is defined simply, the function n!

Biochemical complexity drives log-normal variation in genetic expression
Cells exhibit a high degree of variation in levels of gene expression, even within otherwise homogeneous populations. The standard model to describe this variation centres on a gamma distribution driven by stochastic bursts of translation.

Epigenetic reprogramming in hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSPCs) and downstream myeloid cells, mediated by H3.3 downregulation and endogenous retroelement (ERE) overexpression, contributes to the progression of multiple sclerosis (MS). ABSTRACT Background Skewed myelopoiesis in the bone marrow has been identified as a key driver of multiple ...

Far-From-Equilibrium Time Evolution between Two Gamma Distributions
Many systems in nature and laboratories are far from equilibrium and exhibit significant fluctuations, invalidating the key assumptions of small fluctuations and short memory time in or near equilibrium.

Cosmological Distances and Fractal Statistics of Galaxy Distribution
This paper studies the effect of the distance choice in radial (non-average) statistical tools used for fractal characterization of galaxy distribution.

Multifractal properties of growing networks
We introduce a new family of models for growing networks. In these networks new edges are attached preferentially to vertices with higher number of connections, and new vertices are created by already existing ones, inheriting part of their parent's ...
