Supramolecular Engineering of Fluid Pressure in Filamentous Hybrid Double Network Hydrogels for 3D Chondrocyte Culture

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Inspired by the water‐rich and interconnected biopolymer networks of native load‐bearing tissues, we disclose a connectable design for a hybrid filamentous supramolecular and covalent double network hydrogel generated through in situ photopolymerization.

Nanotherapies for Atherosclerosis: Targeting, Catalysis, and Energy Transduction

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Atherosclerosis management is hindered by poor drug targeting and plaque heterogeneity. Nanotechnology overcomes these barriers via three core strategies: (1) target‐engineered nanocarriers that achieve lesion‐specific precision via ligand modification, biomimetic camouflage, stimuli‐responsive release, and self‐propelling nanomotors; (2) catalytic ...

Dynamic interaction of spindles and gamma activity during cortical slow oscillations and its modulation by subcortical afferents.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Slow oscillations are a hallmark of slow wave sleep. They provide a temporal framework for a variety of phasic events to occur and interact during sleep, including the expression of high-frequency oscillations and the discharge of neurons across the ...

A Data Driven Review of In Vitro Electrical and Mechanical Stimulation for Post‐Acute Phase Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This review examines how in vitro electrical and mechanical stimulation modulates wound healing in fibroblasts and keratinocytes. Analyzing over 560 experimental data points, we relate stimulation parameters to proliferation and migration outcomes, evaluate platform designs, and highlight the need for multi‐parameter optimization to advance targeted ...

Theta-Nested Gamma Oscillations in Next Generation Neural Mass Models

open access: yesFrontiers in Computational Neuroscience, 2020
Theta-nested gamma oscillations have been reported in many areas of the brain and are believed to represent a fundamental mechanism to transfer information across spatial and temporal scales.

A Functional 2D Carbon Allotrope Combining Nanoporous Graphene and Biphenylene Segments

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The synthesis of a novel nanoporous graphene (NPG) is reported with biphenylene segments via thermal fusion of 12‐armchair porous graphene nanoribbons grown on gold surfaces. Characterization using STM, AFM, and DFT reveals low‐defect semiconducting behaviour and tunable band gaps.

From perception to action: phase-locked gamma oscillations correlate with reaction times in a speeded response task

open access: yesBMC Neuroscience, 2007
Background Phase-locked gamma oscillations have so far mainly been described in relation to perceptual processes such as sensation, attention or memory matching.

Opportunities of Semiconducting Oxide Nanostructures as Advanced Luminescent Materials in Photonics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The review discusses the challenges of wide and ultrawide bandgap semiconducting oxides as a suitable material platform for photonics. They offer great versatility in terms of tuning microstructure, native defects, doping, anisotropy, and micro‐ and nano‐structuring. The review focuses on their light emission, light‐confinement in optical cavities, and

Synchronized gamma oscillations (30–50 Hz) in the amygdalo-hippocampal network in relation with seizure propagation and severity

open access: yesNeurobiology of Disease, 2009
In this study, we demonstrate that gamma oscillations (30–50 Hz) recorded in the local field potentials (LFP) of the hippocampus are a marker of temporal lobe seizure propagation and that the level of LFP synchrony in the amygdalo-hippocampal network ...

Unravelling the Secret of Sulfur Confinement and High Sulfur Utilization in Hybrid Sulfur‐Carbons

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Thermal condensation of inverse vulcanized sulfur‐carbon hybrids enables a bottom‐up sulfur confinement strategy, in which a protective carbon phase is progressively constructed around sulfur species. The resulting carbon nanodomains covalently tether sulfur chains and stabilize radical intermediates. This integrated architecture effectively suppresses
