An Aerial Gamma Ray Survey of Springfields and the Ribble Estuary in September 1992 [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
<p>A short aerial gamma ray survey was conducted in the vicinity of the Springfields site and Ribble Estuary from 1st-5th September 1992, to define existing background radiation levels, against which any future changes can be assessed.

Gamma Radiation Inactivation of Enterococci

open access: yesJournal of Food Protection, 1990
Radiation survival curves were determined for 7 strains of Enterococcus faecium , 10 strains of E. faecalis , and 8 strains of the proteolytic variety of E. faecalis . The D values (i.e. the doses giving 90% reduction of viable counts) ranged from 5.0-47 kGy for the E. faecium strains, 3.5-21 kGy for the E.

Binder Engineering Suppresses Jahn–Teller‐Driven Mn Dissolution and Enables High‐Loading MnO2 Cathodes for Aqueous Zn‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A Zn2+‐coordinated poly(vinylidene fluoride) binder is shown to suppress Jahn–Teller‐driven Mn dissolution while improving dispersion, wettability, and structural integrity in thick MnO2 cathodes. This simple binder‐engineering strategy enables high‐loading aqueous Zn‐ion batteries with enhanced areal capacity, cycling stability, and practical promise ...

Fractionated Gamma Knife Radiation for Papillary Tumor of the Pineal Region: A Case Report and Literature Review

open access: yesClinical Case Reports
Papillary tumor of the pineal region (PTPR) is a rare central nervous system neoplasm with an unpredictable clinical course. Gross total resection, the preferred treatment, is often unachievable due to the tumor's deep‐seated location, necessitating ...

Unraveling Fungal Radiation Resistance Regulatory Networks through the Genome-Wide Transcriptome and Genetic Analyses of Cryptococcus neoformans

open access: yesmBio, 2016
The basidiomycetous fungus Cryptococcus neoformans has been known to be highly radiation resistant and has been found in fatal radioactive environments such as the damaged nuclear reactor at Chernobyl. To elucidate the mechanisms underlying the radiation

Exciton Binding Energy of Phosphorescent Emitter Molecules in Organic Light‐Emitting Diodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Energy level alignment is key to efficient OLED design, yet determining LUMO energies remains challenging. A methodology based on field‐induced dissociation and kinetic Monte Carlo simulations is presented to extract LUMO energies of iridium‐based phosphorescent emitters from their exciton binding energy.

3D Printing Innovations in Polymeric Porous and Patterned Architecture

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Polymeric foams occupy a unique structural space between dense solids and open networks, where engineered void fraction governs mechanical compliance, thermal resistance, and mass transport. Additive manufacturing now enables precise spatial control over cellular architecture, unlocking designer foam structures across applications spanning crash ...

Enhancing biomass, hydrocarbon and biodiesel properties of green microalga Botryococcus braunii KMITL through gamma and UV radiation exposure

open access: yesScientific Reports
This study investigated the effects of gamma (137Cs, 0–250 Gy) and UV (UV-C, 0–12 h) radiation on growth and biodiesel properties of Botryococcus braunii KMITL.
