Topological phases in gapped edges of fractionalized systems [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review B, 2013
Recently, it has been proposed that exotic one-dimensional phases can be realized by gapping out the edge states of a fractional topological insulator. The low-energy edge degrees of freedom are described by a chain of coupled parafermions. We introduce a classification scheme for the phases that can occur in parafermionic chains.

Experimental and Numerical Analysis of Torque Properties of Rotary Elastomer Particle Damper considering the Effect of Gap and No Gap between Rotor and Body of the Damper

open access: yesShock and Vibration, 2021
Particle dampers are devices used to control the vibration of mechanical systems. In this research, prototypes of rotary elastomer particle dampers are experimentally tested considering gap and no gap between shaft and cylinder.

Gap Problems for Integer Part and Fractional Part Sequences

open access: yesJournal of Number Theory, 1995
Given a sequence of the form \(\{b_ n\}= \{n\alpha+ \gamma\): \(n\in \mathbb{Z}_ 0\}\) with modulus \(\alpha\geq 1\) and residue \(\gamma\) being real numbers, let \(S(\alpha, \gamma)= \{s_ n\}\) or \(\Omega (\alpha, \gamma)= \{\omega_ n\}\) be the sequences of integers, or fractional parts, resp. of terms of \(\{b_ n\}\).

European Standard Clinical Practice Guideline and EXPeRT Recommendations for the Diagnosis and Management of Gastroenteropancreatic Neuroendocrine Neoplasms in Children and Adolescents

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Pediatric gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms (GEP‐NENs) are extremely rare and clinically heterogeneous. Management has largely been extrapolated from adult practice. This European Standard Clinical Practice Guideline (ESCP), developed by the EXPeRT network in collaboration with adult NEN experts, provides (adult) evidence ...

Health‐Related Social Needs in Children With Sickle Cell Disease Are Associated With Worse Health‐Related Quality of Life

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Children with sickle cell disease (SCD) face multiple acute and chronic medical complications that may impact their quality of life as reported by patients themselves. Health‐related social needs (HRSNs), such as food and housing insecurity, are common in people with SCD, but the association between HRSNs and patient‐reported ...

Restoration of above canopy reference hemispherical image from below canopy measurements for plant area index estimation in forests/ Metsa võrastiku läbipaistvuse mõõtmine digitaalsete poolsfäärikaamerate abil

open access: yesMetsanduslikud Uurimused, 2013
Canopy gap fraction has been estimated from hemispherical images using a thresholding method to separate sky and canopy pixels. The optimal objective thresholding rule has been searched by many authors without satisfactory results due to long list of ...

Genomic Diversity and Clinical Variability in Pediatric Primary Cutaneous Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma: A Case Series

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Primary cutaneous anaplastic large cell lymphoma (pcALCL) is a rare pediatric CD30‐positive T‐cell lymphoproliferative disorder with an excellent prognosis, but its genomic drivers are poorly defined. We report three children with skin‐limited disease demonstrating striking molecular heterogeneity, including NPM::ALK, NUP214::FRK, and a novel ...

Surface gap solitons in a nonlinear fractional Schrödinger equation

open access: yesOptics Express, 2018
We address the propagation dynamics of gap solitons at the interface between uniform media and an optical lattice in the framework of a nonlinear fractional Schrödinger equation. Different families of solitons residing in the first and second bandgaps of the Floquet-Bloch spectrum are revealed.

The Combined Effect of Obesity and Contraceptive Use on Pulmonary Embolism in Adolescent Females Residing in the United States

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Combined oral contraceptive (COC) use in obese adult women dramatically increases the relative risk of developing a pulmonary embolism (PE). The risk of a PE in obese adolescent females taking contraceptives is currently unknown. The purpose of this investigation was to determine the effect of body mass index (BMI) and contraceptive
