Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Multi-Temporal Canopy Gaps Assessment Using Airborne Laser Scanning Data: The Case of the Protected Forests in the Carpathian Montane Ecosystem in Poland

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Canopy gaps are important footprints in understanding the forests’ disturbance regime and regeneration process, yet there is a need to employ multiple metrics along the gradient of time for a deeper understanding of the dynamics.

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Influence of Inter-row Gap Value on Turbine Losses

open access: yesInternational Journal of Rotating Machinery, 2001
This paper presents the results of a numerical investigation of the gap influence on the turbine efficiency. The rotor-stator interaction in a (1/2)-stage turbine is simulated by solving the quasi-three-dimensional unsteady Euler/Navier-Stokes equations ...

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Preparation and analysis of structural, morphological and optical properties of BaFeO2.67/Fe2O3 nanocomposite

open access: yesScientific Reports
This research presents the synthesis of BaFeO2.67/Fe2O3 nanocomposite using a simple chemical co-precipitation method without any capping agents, which distinguishes it from existing methodologies.

Critical Size and Doping Thresholds Governing Band Gap Evolution in Semiconductors

open access: yesEast European Journal of Physics
Understanding how the band gap ( Eg) of semiconductors evolves with size, dimensionality, and doping concentration is crucial for optimizing modern electronic and optoelectronic devices. In this work, we perform a systematic analysis of critical sizes (

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Effect of thinning-induced gap size on soil CO2 efflux in a reforested spruce forest in the eastern Tibetan Plateau

open access: yes, 2016
Understanding the effects of forest management practices (e.g. thinning) on soil respiration (R-s) is crucial for the accurate estimation of forest carbon budget.
