Responses of soil phosphorus fractions to gap size in a reforested spruce forest

open access: yesGeoderma, 2016
Gap created by thinning is a vital practice for the management of degraded forest. However, little information is available about the change in soil P fractions following the gap formation. This study investigated the effects of three gap sizes on soil P

Gap size dependence of the dielectric strength in nano vacuum gaps

IEEE Transactions on Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation, 2013
We study the dielectric strength of vacuum gaps of under 100 nm. We find their dielectric strengths to have a power law dependence on the gap size. We apply this power law to find that the dielectric strength of a vacuum gap of 10 nm between two tungsten electrodes is 6.5 V/nm.

Nano-Size and Miscibility Gap

Advanced Materials Research, 2012
Reports on the alloys formed from immiscible atoms when they are contained in a nano-sized system have initiated several research activities in the recent years. Bridging of the miscibility gap at nanoscale is significant as it has the potential to produce novel alloy materials with useful technological applications.

The Relationship Between the Characteristics of Speech and Velopharyngeal Gap Size

The Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Journal, 2003
Objective The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between perceptual characteristics of hypernasality, nasal emission and nasal rustle, and size of the velopharyngeal gap. Design A retrospective medical chart review.

Forest Spatial Dynamics with Gap Expansion: Total Gap Area and Gap Size Distribution

Journal of Theoretical Biology, 1996
Abstract Recent studies on forest dynamics in diverse forested ecosystems suggest that forest stands are disturbed more frequently if they are next to existing gaps, and that gaps once formed tend to expand their area in subsequent years. We examine total gap area and the size distribution of gaps at equilibrium in a lattice-structured forest model ...

On the Sizes of Gaps in the Fourier Expansion of Modular Forms

Canadian Journal of Mathematics, 2005
AbstractLet be a cusp form with integer weight k ≥ 2 that is not a linear combination of forms with complex multiplication. For n ≥ 1, letConcerning bounded values of i f (n) we prove that for ∊ > 0 there exists M = M(∊, f ) such that Using results of Wu, we show that if f is a weight 2 cusp form for an elliptic curve without complex multiplication,

Electrochemical fabrication and characterization of nanocontacts and nm-sized gaps

Applied Physics A, 2007
Copper nanocontacts and molecular-sized nanogaps were prepared and characterized at electrified solid/liquid interfaces employing lithographic and electrochemical techniques. A dedicated four-electrode potentiostat was developed for controlling the electrochemical fabrication process and for monitoring the electrical characteristics of the ...
