Emergence of Rashba Spin‐Orbit Coupling in Staggered‐Gyromagnetic Photonic Crystals
Laser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.Rashba spin‐orbit coupling emerges in a staggered‐gyromagnetic photonic crystal under a uniform out‐of‐plane magnetic bias. The staggered magnetization splits a four‐fold Dirac point into a Rashba band structure carrying helical spin textures, verified by a four‐band k‐p model.

Luminescent garnets: A tutorial overview
Optical MaterialsIn this paper the optical properties of garnet compounds, highlighting their use in lasers, scintillators, and phosphors for scanners, Hg lamps, and LEDs, is reviewed. We show how compositional variations within the garnet lattice can lead to unique optical properties and characteristics.

Laser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.Mg2+ co‐doping strongly suppresses defect‐related emission and luminescence from trace impurities. Moreover, Mg2+ co‐doping improves the scintillation performance of Y3Al3Ga2O12:Ce by increasing the light yield and accelerating the decay time.

Photovoltaic Effect in a III‐IV‐V Compound Semiconductor
Progress in Photovoltaics: Research and Applications, EarlyView.A large reduction of the GaAs band gap is obtained with incorporation of 6.5% Ge during epitaxy without introducing extended defects or composition inhomogeneity. Heterojunction solar cell devices were fabricated with 0.76‐V open circuit voltage and an internal quantum efficiency above 40% at energies below the bandgap of the GaAs emitter.
