Atomic structure of Ga and As atoms on GaAs(110)

Physical Review B, 1995
Atomic structures of Ga and As atoms on GaAs(110) were examined employing a first-principles pseudopotential method. Both Ga and As atoms reside in the center of a triangle consisting of a surface Ga and two surface As atoms in the single-atom chemisorbed state. Adsorption energies for Ga and As atoms are 3.1 and 3.5 eV, respectively.

Diffusion of hydrogen atoms in helium gas and helium atoms in hydrogen gas

Physical Review A, 2002
The potential of Meyer and Frommhold describing the interaction between hydrogen and helium atoms is used to calculate the diffusion coefficients of hydrogen atoms in helium gas and helium atoms in hydrogen gas as functions of temperature, taking into account higher-order corrections of transport theory.

Quasielastic state-changing collisions of high-Rydberg atoms with rare-gas atoms. II. Collisions with heavier rare-gas atoms

Physical Review A, 1985
We have extensively investigated quasielastic state-changing collisions (QESCC) of high-Rydberg atoms with rare-gas atoms including Kr and Xe based on the free-electron model. Theoretical results are compared with recent experimental findings for 25< or approx. =n< or approx. =48.

Coupled gas chromatography-atomic absorption spectrometry

Journal of Chromatography A, 1977
The specific, precise detection of volatile metal chelates has been obtained by coupling the effluent from a gas chromatograph directly to the burner head of a commerical atomic absorption spectrometer (AAS). Quantitation of chromium in the nanogram range has been accomplished with a detection limit of 1.0 ng.

Electron gas exchange for atoms

Physical Review A, 1977
Current use of electron gas theory for exchange allows calculations of Hartree-Fock (HF) energies through the use of local potentials. A recent proposal of Gopinathan, Whitehead, and Bogdanovi\ifmmode \acute{c}\else \'{c}\fi{} to use a realistic pair correlation function ${f}_{\ensuremath{\uparrow}\ensuremath{\uparrow}}(1, 2)$ that incorporates the ...

Spodium bonding with noble gas atoms

Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics
The nature of the bonding between a neutral group 12 member (Zn3, Cd3 and Hg3) ring and a noble gas atom was explored using quantum chemical simulations.

N-Atom Ideal Gas

2000
The previous Lecture considered a system containing one atom of an ideal gas. The purpose of this Lecture is to generalize the discussion to treat a system of N such atoms. We could have gone directly from Lecture 3 to the calculation below, and skipped Lecture 4 and the Aside.

Primary Atomization in an Airblast Gas Turbine Atomizer

2012
This study focuses on the spray atomization, transport and impact on a solid substrate under cross-flow conditions, as used in airblast atomizers with prefilmers for aero engines and gas turbines. The phenomena are observed using a high-speed video system and the spray is characterized using the phase Doppler technique. The governing mechanisms of drop

Gas-phase ionisation of sputtered rare gas atoms

International Journal of Mass Spectrometry, 2008
Abstract During bombardment of solid samples with rare gas ions, charge-transfer events can convert reemitted rare gas atoms to positively charged ions. In analytical applications of secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS) this mechanism of ion formation is of considerable interest because, owing to their high ionisation potential, the ion fraction of
