Precise control of atomization initial stage to address nozzle clogging issue in the vacuum induction-melting gas atomization process

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
Vacuum induction-melting gas atomization (VIGA) is considered a widely applied method to prepare metal powders. However, the nozzle clogging problem in the VIGA process seriously affects the continuity of production and greatly increases the economic and

Influence of Scan Strategies in Electron Beam Powder Bed Fusion on Solidification, Microstructure, and High‐Temperature Compressive Properties of γ′‐Strengthened Inconel 738LC

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Experiments and thermophysical simulations were conducted to investigate the electron beam powder bed fusion electron beam (PBF‐EB/M) process for the γ′‐strengthened nickel‐based superalloy Inconel 738LC. The results demonstrate the impact of process‐induced microstructural variations on high‐temperature mechanical behavior, providing a basis for ...

External and Internal Cracking Caused by Heat Treatment in Laser Powder Bed Fusion‐Fabricated Inconel 738LC Components

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Manufacturing problems such as heat treatment‐induced cracking hinder the widespread application of the laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) process to superalloys. In this study, cracks in the LPBF components of Inconel 738LC superalloy are characterized after heat treatment at various temperature ranges, revealing two distinct cracking behaviors.

Effect of the two-phase hybrid mode of effervescent atomizer on the atomization characteristics

open access: yesOpen Physics, 2019
In this paper, the atomization characteristics of an effervescent atomizer were investigated. The velocity, Sauter Mean Diameter (SMD) and atomization cone angle of the droplets were measured using the Phase Doppler Analyzer (PDA) to discuss the effect ...

The Influence of Field‐Assisted Sintering Technology (FAST) Temperature and Cooling Rate on the Microstructural Evolution in Gamma‐Titanium Aluminide Alloy GE4822

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Controlling the Field Assisted Sintering Technology (FAST) parameters, dwell temperature and cooling rate, significantly influences the microstructural evolution in titanium aluminide GE4822. Significant γ‐lamellar colonies develop only upon cooling through the α‐transus.

Printed Integrated Logic Circuits Based on Chitosan‐Gated Organic Transistors for Future Edible Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Edible electronics needs integrated logic circuits for computation and control. This work presents a potentially edible printed chitosan‐gated transistor with a design optimized for integration in circuits. Its implementation in integrated logic gates and circuits operating at low voltage (0.7 V) is demonstrated, as well as the compatibility with an ...
