Plume influence analysis of small bipropellant thruster on solar array of GEO satellite. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
An exhaust plume gas flow from a bipropellant thruster has been recognized as a potential source of a load, heat, and contamination on the exposed satellite components which can especially degrade the optical properties and performance of solar panel ...

Method of cold welding using ion beam technology [PDF]

open access: yes, 1981
A method for cold welding metal joints is described. In order to remove the contamination layer on the surface of the metal, an ion beam generator is used in a vacuum environment. A gas, such as xenon or argon, is ionized and accelerated toward the metal

Mechanochemical Synthesis and Characterization of Nanostructured ErB4 and NdB4 Rare‐Earth Tetraborides

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

Analysis of Structural, Optical, and Aquaphobic Properties of Zirconium Oxide Nanofilms by Varying Sputtering Gas

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2022
The problem of contamination in ceramic insulators was found to be frequent in power transmission lines and transformers. The key aim was to develop aquaphobic zirconium oxide (ZrO2) thin films using DC reactive magnetron sputtering over glass insulators

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Dark Molecular Gas in Simulations of z~0 Disc Galaxies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The $\rm H_2$ mass of molecular clouds has traditionally been traced by the CO(J=1-0) rotational transition line. This said, CO is relatively easily photodissociated, and can also be destroyed by cosmic rays, thus rendering some fraction of molecular gas
