Application of Ultrasonic Sensors for Determining the Height of Dynamic Two‐Phase Layers in Tray Columns

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, EarlyView.
Ultrasonic sensors are evaluated for their applicability in dynamic gas–liquid systems. By comparing sensor data with two independent optical reference methods, their robustness and reliability are demonstrated under varying flow conditions and tray geometries in column systems.

Optical Multiphase Conductivity Inline Probe: Characterization and Analysis of Foam Structures

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, EarlyView.
A novel inline probe combines optical imaging and electrical conductivity within a shared measurement volume, enabling simultaneous determination of foam structure and composition. The method provides real‐time access to cell size distributions and liquid fractions under process conditions. ABSTRACT For inline process analysis of foams, a novel optical

Integral Experiments and Magnetic Resonance Imaging of Lab‐Scale Liquid Distributors

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, EarlyView.
Four lab‐scale liquid distributors were evaluated based on the homogeneity of the resulting liquid distribution. The best‐performing design reduced maldistribution and wall flow compared to a single‐point liquid distribution and remained stable under varying operating conditions, including different gas and liquid loads.

Economic and environmental implications of the development of UASB reactors in Mexico for sustainable industrial wastewater treatment

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Abstract The objective of this work is to demonstrate that the inclusion of an up‐flow anaerobic sludge bed (UASB reactor) within an industrial wastewater treatment plant reduces the plant's investment and operating costs compared to a system based solely on conventional complete‐mix activated sludge (CMAS), operating under the same design principles ...
