Emission of neutron-proton and proton-proton pairs in electron scattering induced by meson-exchange currents [PDF]
We use a relativistic model of meson-exchange currents to compute the proton-neutron and proton-proton yields in $(e,e')$ scattering from $^{12}$C in the 2p-2h channel.

Microscale Processes and Dynamics during CH4–CO2 Guest-Molecule Exchange in Gas Hydrates
The exchange of CH4 by CO2 in gas hydrates is of interest for the production of natural gas from methane hydrate with net zero climate gas balance, and for managing risks that are related to sediment destabilization and mobilization after gas-hydrate ...

Quantum Monte Carlo Analysis of Exchange and Correlation in the Strongly Inhomogeneous Electron Gas [PDF]
We use variational quantum Monte Carlo to calculate the density-functional exchange-correlation hole n_{xc}, the exchange-correlation energy density e_{xc}, and the total exchange-correlation energy E_{xc}, of several electron gas systems in which strong

Three- to two-dimensional crossover in time-dependent density-functional theory
Quasi-two-dimensional (2D) systems, such as an electron gas confined in a quantum well, are important model systems for many-body theories. Earlier studies of the crossover from 3D to 2D in ground-state density-functional theory showed that local and ...

Three-Dimensional Crystallization of Vortex Strings in Frustrated Quantum Magnets
We demonstrate that frustrated exchange interactions can produce exotic 3D crystals of vortex strings near the saturation field (H=Hsat) of body- and face-centered cubic Mott insulators. The combination of cubic symmetry and frustration leads to a magnon

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These
