Gas insulated substation (GIS) for HVDC
2000 Annual Report Conference on Electrical Insulation and Dielectric Phenomena (Cat. No.00CH37132), 2002The paper deals with the topic of a Gas Insulated Substation (GIS) optimized for HVDC. The electric field distribution of DC systems is mainly controlled by the conductivity k of the dielectric media. Surface charge accumulation leads to field distortion.

Exposure to electric and magnetic fields at 110 kV gas insulated substation (GIS)
IEEE/PES Transmission and Distribution Conference and Exhibition, 2003At Tampere University of Technology, the ELF electric and magnetic fields have been studied for several years. The studies have included measurements and calculations, as well as exposure assessments. In previous studies at TUT, electric and magnetic fields at 400 kV and 110 kV air insulated substations were measured.

Special problems in gas insulated substations (GIS) and their effects on indian power system
2012 IEEE International Conference on Power System Technology (POWERCON), 2012The increase in demand for electricity and the growing energy density in the metropolitan areas have made it necessary to extend the high voltage network right up to the consumer. Gas insulated substations provide a best solution to the above problem and have been functioning for more than 30 years around the world.

Wavelet analysis used in UHF partial discharge detection in GIS [gas insulated substations]
POWERCON '98. 1998 International Conference on Power System Technology. Proceedings (Cat. No.98EX151), 2002One of the most important subjects in monitoring GIS is PD detection. The issue is that the PD signal is weak and sensitive to external noise. In this paper, the experiments of detection PD in GIS using UHF technique is described. The results show that UHF method is effective in detecting PD in GIS and avoiding the disturbance of corona.

Mitigation and analysis of very fast transient over voltages (VFTO) is very important in gas-insulated substations (GIS). In this paper a power transformer rating of 1500 MVA in 1000 kV GIS has been considered and different techniques for mitigation and analysis of VFTOs at the transformer are applied and the same results are analyzed by the ...

Solutions of essential problems of gas insulated systems for substations (GIS) and lines (GIL)
Proceedings of the 7th International Conference on Properties and Applications of Dielectric Materials (Cat. No.03CH37417), 2004GIS and GIL are applied since several decades and proved to be very reliable and safe components of the power supply system. Extensive fundamental research was necessary for the development of the technology. Out of countless problems three are chosen to demonstrate the numerous phenomena, which had to be investigated. These are the flashover to ground
