The Lift Gas Cracker is a new method for extending the duration of high-altitude scientific balloon flights and for enabling the launch of balloons from remote locations. The Lift Gas Cracker produces balloon lift gas by catalytic steam reforming of methanol to generate hydrogen plus carbon dioxide.

Gas absorption in narrow gas lifts
Chemical Engineering Science, 1963Abstract Carbon dioxide from a mixture of CO 2 N 2 has been absorbed by water in gas lifts of 0·48 and 0·238 cm inside diameter, 0·5 and 1·0 m long. The liquid phase resistance to mass transfer, which is predominant, has been calculated by a fundamental theory.

Proceedings of SPE Production Operations Symposium, 1991
Abstract Gas lift, a broadly applied method for producing oil, consists of gas injection into production wells to reduce the liquid density in the wells and increase the liquid inflow. Gas lift technology requires large gas volumes to be injected.

When the reservoir pressure declines, the production oil rate decreases and falls below the economic limit. One of the methods to increase the production rate is the gas lift. In this process, gas is injected to the well from the annulus. Then at the injection point it enters the tubing and is dissolved in the tubing’s fluid which causes the reduction ...

Modeling of a Gas-Lift Well Operation with an Automated Gas-Lift Gas Supply Control System
SPE Russian Petroleum Technology Conference, 2019Abstract Gaslift operation faces several challenges - optimizing the amount of gas pumped, ensuring that the gas is pumped to the maximum possible depth, combating salt and hydrate formation and, finally, the instability of the flow. The timely detection of these problems and the optimisation of the system requires information on the ...

Soft Sensing for Gas-Lift Wells
SPE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition, 2004Abstract This paper considers the use of extended Kalman Filtering as a soft-sensing technique for gas-lift wells. This technique is deployed for the estimation of dynamic variables that are not directly measured. Possible applications are the estimation of flow rates from pressure measurements or the estimation of parameters of a ...

Optimizing Gas Lift Operations Using Disintegrable Gas Lift Valve Plugs
SPE Artificial Lift Conference & Exhibition-North America, 2014Abstract Artificial lift encompasses approximately 96% of the US oil well market. Of the wells that use artificial lift, 10% use gas lift for production. As gas is injected into the well, the viscosity of the fluid and pressure is reduced, promoting flow to the surface.

Gas Lift Valves Troubleshooting to Improve the Gas Lift Wells Performance
International Science and Technology JournalGas lift valves can aid in the unloading and production of a well. With the valves properly spaced and correctly pressured and proper select of the port size, unloading proceeds in a stage-by-stage, valve by valve manner to the ideal point of lift, and maximum liquid production is reached.

Integrated gas lift system optimization
Theoretical Foundations of Chemical Engineering, 2013An intelligent genetic algorithm has been developed to simultaneously optimize all effective factors, namely, gas injection rate, injection depth and tubing diameter towards the maximum oil production rate with the water cut and injection pressure as the restrictions.

Real Gas Lift Optimization: An Alternative to Timer Based Intermittent Gas Lift
Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition & Conference, 2017Abstract A simple electronic control method for automatically determining the "on-time" parameter for intermittent gas lifted wells using existing continuous gas lift valves is presented. Lift gas consumption and production during intermittent operation is compared to previous continuous gas lift results of the same wells in an ...
