The Natural Product Corramycin Acts as a DNA Gyrase Poison and Overcomes Fluoroquinolone Resistance in Mycobacterium tuberculosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Corramycin, a myxobacterial natural product antibiotic, exhibits potent bactericidal activity against multidrug‐resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The compound hijacks bacterial transporters such as BacA and OppABCD to enter the cell and inhibits DNA synthesis through a previously unrecognized mode of DNA gyrase poisoning, locking the enzyme in an ...

Unlocking Low‐Melting‐Point and High‐Conductivity Molten Salts via High‐Entropy Strategy with Demonstration in Thermal Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A high‐entropy strategy is developed to break the trade‐off between low melting point and high ionic conductivity in molten salt electrolytes. By incorporating CsBr and LiF into the LiCl‐LiBr‐KBr system, the quinary LiF‐LiCl‐LiBr‐KBr‐CsBr electrolyte achieves a record‐low melting point of 229.5°C while maintaining a high conductivity of 1.19 S cm−1 at ...

Probing Gas-Phase-Clustering Thermodynamics with Ion Mobility–Mass Spectrometry: Association Energies of Phenylalanine Ions with Gas-Phase Alcohols

Journal of the American Society for Mass Spectrometry, 2020
Vapor assisted mobility shift measurements were made with atmospheric pressure drift-tube ion mobility-mass spectrometry (IM-MS) to determine the thermodynamic properties of weakly bound ion-molecule clusters formed from protonated phenylalanine and neutral vapor molecules with hydroxyl functional groups.

Determination of gas phase triacetone triperoxide with aspiration ion mobility spectrometry and gas chromatography–mass spectrometry

Analytica Chimica Acta, 2008
Aspiration ion mobility spectrometry (IMS) has been used for the first time to screen 3,3,6,6,9,9-hexamethyl-1,2,4,5,7,8-hexaoxacyclononane explosive, the most commonly known as triacetone triperoxide (TATP). Gaseous TATP was generated from synthesized solid compound, sublimed and directed to a portable chemical detection system comprised of an ...

Gas-Phase Ion Mobility Studies of Amines and Polyether/Amine Complexes Using Tandem Quadrupole Ion Trap/Ion Mobility Spectrometry

European Journal of Mass Spectrometry, 2000
The gas-phase positive ion mobility spectra of isomeric amines and polyether/amine complexes have been measured using a tandem quadrupole ion trap/ion mobility spectrometer. Ion mobilities of isomeric amines in helium, determined relative to benzene at pressures in the range 1–2 Torr, vary with the structure of the amine.

Description of Gas-Phase Ion/Neutral Interactions in Differential Ion Mobility Spectrometry: CV Prediction Using Calibration Runs

Journal of the American Society for Mass Spectrometry, 2014
Differential ion mobility spectrometry (DMS) coupled to mass spectrometry is increasingly used in both quantitative analyses of biological samples and as a means of removing background interferences for enhanced selectivity and improved quality of mass spectra.

Decoding Protein Gas‐Phase Stability with Alanine Scanning and Collision‐Induced Unfolding Ion Mobility Mass Spectrometry [PDF]

open access: yesAnalysis & Sensing, 2021
Native mass spectrometry is a widely used tool in structural biology, providing information on protein structure and interactions through preservation of complexes in the gas phase.

Effective collisional cross‐section of small ions in the gas phase: Application to ion mobility spectrometry

Rapid Communications in Mass Spectrometry, 2021
Rationale The observed drift times of monoatomic ions, including alkali metal ions and halide anions, are not fully consistent with their size. When the effect of mass is included through the Mason–Schamp equation, the deviation gets worse so that the trend of the experimental collisional cross‐sections becomes ...
