Pipeline crawler development for mapping gas pipeline topology
2021 American Control Conference (ACC), 2021Accurate geographic location of a pipeline is important information for pipeline maintenance and leak detection. Usually, the geographic location of a pipeline on the ground can be measured directly by global positioning system (GPS) technology, but it is much difficult to determine the geographic location of an underground pipeline.

We use the uniform sampling method to study shocks and spikes in transient flow in gas pipelines. The method is well suited for this purpose. Both shocks and spikes tend to be masked by the use of a conventional damping term known as Moody friction. They are also masked by standard numerical schemes.

Radioactivity in the gas pipeline network in Poland
Journal of Environmental Radioactivity, 2020<p>The radiological risk in natural gas industry is mostly connected with radon (Rn-222) and its progeny: Po-218, Pb-214, Bi-214, Po-214 and Pb-210. The radon activity concentration in natural gas transported by gas pipelines varies in a wide range from dozens of Bq/m3 to several thousand Bq/

STATE OBSERVERS FOR MONITORING GAS PIPELINES
IEE Proceedings D Control Theory and Applications, 1983The paper describes work performed in collaboration with the British Gas Corporation, in relation to the development of algorithms for monitoring the condition of high-pressure gas pipelines. The practical problem considered is that of reconstructing the pressure profile along a single length of pipe from pressure measurements at the end points and a ...

Seismic vulnerability of natural gas pipelines
Reliability Engineering & System Safety, 2013Abstract This work deals with the analysis of the interaction of earthquakes with pipelines transporting and distributing natural gas for industrial and civil use. To this aim, a new large data-set of seismic information classified on the basis of selected seismological, geotechnical and structural parameters is presented and analyzed.

H2 in an Exisiting Natural Gas Pipeline
Volume 1: Pipeline and Facilities Integrity, 2020Abstract N.V. Nederlandse Gasunie (Gasunie) has converted an existing gas transmission line from transporting natural gas to transporting a mixture of gaseous hydrogen and 30% to 0% methane. To enable this, an assessment was carried out on technical safety, process safety, work safety and external safety.

Security of the natural gas supply strongly depends on the integrity of the transportation pipelines. The statistical evidence shows that the most probable cause of the break occurrence at natural gas pipeline is the external third party interference.
