An Adaptive Inhibitory WSe2 Transistor for Retinomorphic In‐Sensor Image Processing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Conventional retinomorphic devices typically require deliberate gate‐bias tuning for each illumination condition. In this paper, we demonstrate an adaptive inhibitory WSe2 transistor that uses photo‐induced regime shift between the subthreshold and accumulation modes to achieve decision‐free, intensity‐adaptive image processing within a single pixel ...

Calculation of a self-consistent, low frequency electrostatic field in the drift-kinetic approximation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1977
July 1977Includes bibliographical references (pages 22-23)We derive an asymptotic series in [omega]p -2 , the inverse-square plasma frequency, for the self-consistent, low frequency electrostatic field in tori. The derivation is consistent with the drift-

Microfluidic Nano‐Assembly of Red‐Blood‐Cell (RBC) Lipids and Components for Engineering Extracellular Vesicles

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Engineered red blood cell‐derived extracellular vesicles (eRBCEVs) are synthesized via controlled microfluidic assembly from native RBC lipids, enabling tunable encapsulation of proteins, nucleic acids, nanoparticles, and viral vectors. The platform demonstrates reproducible nanoscale architecture, preserved membrane composition, and functional cargo ...

Silicone Breast Implants as a Model System for Understanding Polymer Permeation in Soft Materials In Vivo

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Silicone breast implants are presented as a model system for understanding polymer permeation in vivo. Rather than representing material failure, “gel bleed” emerges from solution–diffusion transport‐mediated. By integrating polymer architecture, physicochemical transport, and biointerfacial processes, this review provides a unified framework that ...

Photovoltaic Stimulation of Mouse and Pig Retina With Pyrolytic Carbon Microelectrodes Integrated on High‐Density Silicon Solar Cell Arrays

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, we fabricate photovoltaic retinal implants with pyrolytic carbon electrodes and test their ability to stimulate mouse and pig retinas when illuminated with near‐infrared light. We find increased spiking activity in both animal models compared to spontaneous activity and TTX controls and analyze the spike amplitude, latency and frequency.

Gas plasma technology mediates deep tissue and anticancer events independently of hydrogen peroxide

open access: yesTrends in Biotechnology
Reactive oxygen species (ROS) can be used as anticancer agents. Some technologies, such as medical gas plasmas, generate large amounts and varieties of these mainly short-lived, reactive molecules. However, it is unclear how far reactive species travel in tissues and which types have major or minor roles in exerting effects.

Advancing Human Skin Equivalents: The Crucial Role of Neurovascular Integration

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This review discusses the importance of integrating vascular and peripheral nerve systems into human skin equivalents (HSEs) to better recapitulate native skin physiology. Recent advances in vascularized, innervated, and neurovascularized HSEs are highlighted, together with emerging bioengineering strategies, current challenges, and future ...
