An atmospheric-pressure, high-aspect-ratio, cold micro-plasma [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2014
An atmospheric pressure nonequilibrium Ar micro-plasma generated inside a micro-tube with plasma radius of 3 μm and length of 2.7 cm is reported. The electron density of the plasma plume estimated from the broadening of the Ar emission line reaches as high as 3 × 10(16) cm(-3).

Mycotoxin Decontamination Efficacy of Atmospheric Pressure Air Plasma

open access: yesToxins, 2019
Mycotoxins, the toxic secondary metabolites of mould species, are a growing global concern, rendering almost 25% of all food produced unfit for human or animal consumption, thus placing immense pressure on the food supply chain. Cold Atmospheric pressure

Pulse-Modulated Radio-Frequency Alternating-Current-Driven Atmospheric-Pressure Glow Discharge for Continuous-Flow Synthesis of Silver Nanoparticles and Evaluation of Their Cytotoxicity toward Human Melanoma Cells

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2018
An innovative and environmentally friendly method for the synthesis of size-controlled silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) is presented. Pectin-stabilized AgNPs were synthesized in a plasma-reaction system in which pulse-modulated radio-frequency atmospheric ...

Comparison and optimization of performance of cold plasma systems on chickpea seed germination indices [PDF]

open access: yesعلوم و فناوری بذر ایران, 2022
One of the technologies used to improve seed germination is use of cold plasma. Cold plasma is created at atmospheric pressure or vacuum by using electrical discharge in low pressure gas.

Production of reactive species in alginate hydrogels for cold atmospheric plasma-based therapies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
In the last years, great advances have been made in therapies based in cold atmospheric plasmas (CAP). CAP generate reactive oxygen and nitrogen species (RONS) which can be transferred to liquids.

Mechanism of Virus Inactivation by Cold Atmospheric-Pressure Plasma and Plasma-Activated Water [PDF]

open access: yesApplied and Environmental Microbiology, 2018
Contamination with pathogenic and infectious viruses severely threatens human health and animal husbandry. Current methods for disinfection have different disadvantages, such as inconvenience and contamination of disinfection by-products (e.g., chlorine disinfection).

Aerosol-Assisted Atmospheric Pressure Cold Plasma Deposition of Organic–Inorganic Nanocomposite Coatings [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Low pressure plasma technologies have been widely and successfully utilized for the production of a large variety of organic–inorganic nanocomposite (NC) thin films consisting of metal or metal oxide nanoparticles embedded in a polymer matrix. Recently,

Repeated applications of cold atmospheric pressure plasma does not induce resistance in Staphylococcus aureus embedded in biofilms

open access: yesGMS Hygiene and Infection Control, 2014
[english] Introduction: The increasing microbial resistance against antibiotics complicates the therapy of bacterial infections. Therefore new therapeutic options, particularly those causing no resistance, are of high interest. Cold atmospheric plasma is

Medical gas plasma technology: Roadmap on cancer treatment and immunotherapy

open access: yesRedox Biology, 2023
Despite continuous therapeutic progress, cancer remains an often fatal disease. In the early 2010s, first evidence in rodent models suggested promising antitumor action of gas plasma technology.
