Adaptive Gas-Discharge Plasma as an Enabling Technology for Reconfigurable Antennas
A reconfigurable plasma dipole antenna operating in the ultrahigh frequency (UHF) band is presented. The antenna employs two plasma discharge tubes as the radiating elements, replacing the metallic arms of a conventional dipole. The dispersive properties of plasma are analyzed analytically, and full-waves imulations are performed to evaluate its ...

Detailed H(n=2) density measurements in a magnetized hydrogen plasma jet
We present detailed spatial density measurements of H(n = 2), i.e. the first excited state of atomic hydrogen, in a hydrogen plasma expansion that is weakly magnetized. At a specific distance from the source of the expansion a sharp transition from a red

Geometry‐driven thermal behavior in wire‐arc additive manufacturing (WAAM) influences microstructural evolution during nonequilibrium solidification of a chemically complex Fe–Cr–Nb–W–Mo–C nanocomposite system. By comparing different deposits configurations, distinct entropy–cooling rate correlations, segregation, and carbide evolution are revealed ...

Flow dynamics and invasion by background gas of a supersonically expanding thermal plasma
The transport of neutral argon atoms in an expanding thermal argon/hydrogen plasma is studied by means of laser-induced fluorescence spectroscopy around 811 nm, on the long living Ar[4s] atoms.

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

Impact of MgO Additions on the Oxidation Resistance and Compression Behavior of Vanadium Alloys
An increase in oxidation resistance at 600 °C is achieved for alloys containing more than 2.5 wt.% MgO. It has been established that, along with V2O5, MgO6V2, and Mg2O7V2 are formed, which are presumed to enhance oxidative stability. Furthermore, the possible transformation of Mg‐vanadates through reaction with CO2, which presumably occurs in this ...
