Plasma-chemical treatment of hydrogen sulfide in natural gas processing. Final report, May 1991--December 1992

open access: yes, 1993
A new process for the treatment of hydrogen sulfide waste that uses microwave plasma-chemical technology has been under development in Russia and the United States. Whereas the present waste-treatment technology, at best, only recovers sulfur, this novel

Dielectric Barrier Discharge Plasma Deoxidation of Natively Oxide Layer of Copper Powders in a Fluidized Bed

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This paper presents a novel approach to reducing oxide layers on metal powders using low‐temperature hydrogen dielectric barrier discharge plasmas at atmospheric pressure. Unlike conventional hydrogen‐plasma reductions, the powders do not contact the plasma directly.

Hydrodynamic Characteristics of a Fluidized Bed with Rotating Distributor [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The performance of a novel rotating distributor fluidized bed is presented. The pressure drop and the standard deviation of pressure fluctuations were used to find the minimum fluidization velocity, Umf, and to characterize the quality of fluidization ...

Surface Tension Measurement of Ti‐6Al‐4V by Falling Droplet Method in Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In this article, the temperature‐dependent surface tension of free falling, oscillating Ti‐6Al‐4V droplets is investigated in both argon and monosilane doped, oxygen‐free atmosphere. Droplet temperature and oscillation are captured with one single high‐speed camera, and the surface tension is calculated with Rayleigh's formula.

A case study for coupling mechanism of anti-rockburst and pressure relief in gas drainage borehole along seam

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science
After high gas mines coal mining reaches deep, the issue of rockburst has become increasingly prominent. Aiming at solving the problem of rock burst in high gas mines, the coupling mechanism of anti-rockburst and pressure relief in gas drainage boreholes

Numerical modelling of pressure rise combustion for reducing emissions of future civil aircraft [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This work assesses the feasibility of designing and implementing the wave rotor (WR), the pulse detonation engine (PDE) and the internal combustion wave rotor (ICWR) as part of novel Brayton cycles able to reduce emissions of future aircraft.

Auto-Ignition and Flame Stabilization of Hydrogen / Natural Gas / Nitrogen Jets in a Vitiated Cross-Flow at Elevated Pressure

open access: yes, 2013
The influence of natural gas (NG) on the auto-ignition behavior of hydrogen (H2)/nitrogen (N2) fuel jets injected into a vitiated cross-flow was studied at conditions relevant for practical combustion systems (p = 15 bar, Tcross-flow = 1173 K).

Creating Ti–Fe α/β Alloys by Diffusion‐Driven Solid‐State Processing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study proposes making alloys containing fast diffusing elements that are difficult to produce by ingot metallurgy, by diffusion‐driven solid‐state HIP processing of elemental powders and low‐temperature homogenisation. Here, novel Fe‐Ti α–β alloys are formed having fine α–β lamellae, a small β prior grain size without significant intermetallics ...
