Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Surface reaction mechanism and characteristics of 2-dimensional TiO2 and 0-dimensional Ag nanocomposites specialized for H2S gas sensing at room temperature

open access: yesSensors and Actuators Reports
In this study, we provide the synthesis of pristine TiO2 nanosheets (NSs) via a simple flux method and their decoration with Ag nanoparticles (NPs) using a hydrothermal method for room-temperature H2S gas sensing.

UiO‐66 metal–organic frameworks in biomedicine: From structural tunability to bioimaging, photodiagnostics, and photodynamic cancer therapy

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
UiO‐66(Zr) metal–organic frameworks are chemically stable, biocompatible, and highly tunable nanomaterials. Their modular structure enables controlled drug delivery, multimodal bioimaging, and light‐activated photodynamic therapy, supporting integrated diagnostic and therapeutic (theranostic) applications in cancer and biomedical research.

Microstructured optical fibres for gas sensing: design fabrication and post-fab processing

open access: yes, 2009
Air/silica Microstructured Optical Fibers (MOFs) offer new prospects for fiber based sensor devices. In this paper, two topics of particular significance for gas sensing using air guiding Photonic Bandgap Fibers (PBGFs) are discussed.

Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.

Re‐Awakening Public Attention to the Silent Pandemic of Cancer Among Older Adults in Low‐ and Middle‐Income Countries

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT As global populations age, cancer is increasingly becoming a leading cause of morbidity and mortality among older adults, particularly in low‐ and middle‐income countries (LMICs). Despite accounting for the majority of new cancer cases and deaths, older individuals remain underrepresented in cancer research, clinical guidelines, and health ...

Gas sensing using an organic/silicon hybrid field-effect transistor [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
This thesis describes the fabrication and properties of novel organic/silicon hybrid field-effect transistor gas sensors. Whilst most of the work used the emeraldine base form of the conductive polymer polyaniline, the response of a device incorporating ...

Strategies and challenges for improving the performance of two-dimensional materials-based gas sensors

open access: yesAdvances in Physics: X
Two-dimensional (2D) materials emerged in the last decade have been considered as an attractive class of gas sensing materials due to their large surface-to-volume ratio, high surface reaction activity and good gas adsorption performance provided by the ...

Correlation spectroscopy gas sensor with photonic band-gap fibre reference cell

open access: yes, 2006
Gas-filled microstructured optical fibres [1-4], in particular photonic band-gap fibres (PBGFs), have been suggested as a replacement for bulk-optic cells in optical gas sensors.

Gas identification with tin oxide sensor array and self-organizing maps: adaptive correction of sensor drifts

open access: yes, 1998
Low-cost tin oxide gas sensors are inherently nonspecific. In addition, they have several undesirable characteristics such as slow response, nonlinearities, and long-term drifts.
