Optimization of a Welding Procedure for Making Critical Aluminum Welds on the LBNF Absorber Core Block [PDF]

open access: yesJACoW IPAC2024 (2024) TUPS43
The LBNF Absorber consists of thirteen 6061-T6 aluminum core blocks. The core blocks are water cooled with de-ionized (DI) water which becomes radioactive during beam operations. The cooling water flows through gun-drilled channels in the core blocks.

Solidification of Tungsten Inert Gas–Welded Austenitic Stainless Steel with 0.17 wt% N

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
The classical Scheil model with fast diffusion of nitrogen is used to describe the solidification of the weld seam from austenitic CrMnNi–N steel. The microsegregation of the elements Ni, Cr, Mn, Mo, and N is calculated and compared with experimental findings. Further, the correlation between secondary dendrite arm spacing and cooling rate is made.

A Multi-Sensor Interface to Improve the Learning Experience in Arc Welding Training Tasks [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
This paper presents the development of a multi-sensor user interface to facilitate the instruction of arc welding tasks. Traditional methods to acquire hand-eye coordination skills are typically conducted through one-to-one instruction where trainees must wear protective helmets and conduct several tests.

Computational methods for creation materials with required composition and structure [PDF]

open access: yeschapter 17, pp. 445-464 in Materials Science book edited by Itzhak Mastai, Intech publ (2013), 2018
One of the most important and complicated problems in modern industry is to obtaining materials with the required chemical composition, structure and mechanical and physical properties. Solving this problem involves great deal of time and expense, and the results obtained might be far from the optimal solution.
