TiB2-reinforced composite coating by gas tungsten arc welding [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Materials Science, 2009
In situ synthesized TiB2-reinforced Fe-based coating was fabricated by gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW) on AISI-4340 steel substrate using cheaper Fe–Ti, Fe–Cr, Fe–W, Fe–B alloys and B2O3 powders. The effects of processing parameters on the coating were investigated experimentally.

In situ strain monitoring in gas tungsten arc welding processes [PDF]

open access: yes2016 IEEE International Conference on Advanced Intelligent Mechatronics (AIM), 2016
Strain/stress evolution during welding is essential to understand material's mechanical behavior and the formation of weld defects such as distortion, cracks and residual stresses. In-situ measurement of strain has been very challenging due to the impact from high temperature and intense arc light.
