The incorporation of nondigested ECM and synthetic polymers into a co‐electrospinning system enables the decoupling of bioactivity and mechanical properties within a single wrap. This technique is used to develop a multifunctional bone wrap that achieves augmented membrane durability, sustained infection control, and enhanced vascularity for use in ...

Background Previous studies indicated that recombinant gas vesicles (r-GV) from a mutant strain of Halobacterium sp. NRC-1 could express a cassette containing test sequences of SIVmac gag derived DNA, and function as an antigen display/delivery system ...

The sequence of the major gas vesicle protein, GvpA, influences the width and strength of halobacterial gas vesicles [PDF]
Transformation experiments with Haloferax volcanii show that the amino acid sequence of the gas vesicle protein GvpA influences the morphology and strength of gas vesicles produced by halophilic archaea. A modified expression vector containing p-gvpA was used to complement a Vac(-) strain of Hfx.

Onsager’s variational principle in soft matter : introduction and application to the dynamics of adsorption of proteins onto fluid membranes [PDF]
This book is the first collection of lipid-membrane research conducted by leading mechanicians and experts in continuum mechanics. It brings the overall intellectual framework afforded by modern continuum mechanics to bear on a host of challenging ...

The gas permeability coefficient of the cyanobacterial gas vesicle wall [PDF]
Summary: The gas permeability coefficient of the cyanobacterial gas vesicle wall has been determined by comparing the concentration gradient of oxygen gas in a film of gas vesicles with the gradient in an underlying film of agar supported over an oxygen atmosphere. The gradients were determined with an oxygen microelectrode.

Decellularized Extracellular Matrix (dECM) in Tendon Regeneration: A Comprehensive Review
Decellularized Extracellular Matrix (dECM) offers a promising solution by replicating the native tendon microenvironment and promoting regeneration. This review highlights advances in the decellularization methods, as well as their integration with emerging technologies and translational progress in tendon tissue engineering.

A three-dimensional lattice gas model for amphiphilic fluid dynamics
We describe a three-dimensional hydrodynamic lattice-gas model of amphiphilic fluids. This model of the non-equilibrium properties of oil-water-surfactant systems, which is a non-trivial extension of an earlier two-dimensional realisation due to ...

Permeability of Gas Vesicles to Perfluorocyclobutane [PDF]
SUMMARY: The permeability of intact gas vesicles, isolated from the cyanobacterium Anabaena flos-aquae, to percyclofluorobutane (C4F8), has been investigated by two methods. Warburg manometry showed that a suspension of intact gas vesicles exchanges more C4F8 than an equivalent suspension of collapsed ones.
