Experimental study of a butanol film motion with a co-current gas flow inside a supersonic nozzle [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
The results of experimental study of the local characteristics of a butanol near-wall film interacting with a co-current air flow in a supersonic nozzle with a geometric Mach number M = 3.75 are presented.

NONLINEAR FILTRATION LAWS OF ONE-COMPONENT FLUIDS AT HIGH FLOW RATES

open access: yesИзвестия высших учебных заведений: Нефть и газ, 2015
It is emphasized that well-known Darcy and Forchheimer laws of filtration are applicable for modes with low Reynolds numbers. For modes with a wide range of Reynolds numbers it is necessary to apply the Barry-Conway law of filtration.

Effect of Mixing Technique on Physico-Chemical Characteristics of Blended Membranes for Gas Separation

open access: yesGases, 2023
Polymer blending has attracted considerable attention because of its ability to overcome the permeability–selectivity trade-off in gas separation applications. In this study, polysulfone (PSU)-modified cellulose acetate (CA) membranes were prepared using

Influence of Hydrogen on the Performance and Emissions Characteristics of a Spark Ignition Ammonia Direct Injection Engine

open access: yesGases, 2023
Because ammonia is easier to store and transport over long distances than hydrogen, it is a promising research direction as a potential carrier for hydrogen. However, its low ignition and combustion rates pose challenges for running conventional ignition

Alternative Gaseous Fuels for Marine Vessels towards Zero-Carbon Emissions

open access: yesGases, 2023
The maritime industry is recognized as a major pollution source to the environment. The use of low- or zero-carbon marine alternative fuel is a promising measure to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases and toxic pollutants, leading to net-zero carbon ...

Hydrogen Purification through a Membrane–Cryogenic Integrated Process: A 3 E’s (Energy, Exergy, and Economic) Assessment

open access: yesGases, 2023
Hydrogen (H2) is known for its clean energy characteristics. Its separation and purification to produce high-purity H2 is becoming essential to promoting a H2 economy.

Oxidant Gases [PDF]

open access: yesEnvironmental Health Perspectives, 1984
The acute and chronic action of the oxidant gases ozone, nitrogen dioxide and oxygen on the morphological appearance of cells of the alveolar and bronchiolar epithelium is reviewed. Type I cells of the alveolar and ciliated cells of the bronchiolar epithelium appear to be sensitive targets for the oxidant gases.

Modulational Instability of Ion-Acoustic Waves and Associated Envelope Solitons in a Multi-Component Plasma

open access: yesGases, 2021
A generalized plasma model with inertial warm ions, inertialess iso-thermal electrons, super-thermal electrons and positrons is considered to theoretically investigate the modulational instability (MI) of ion-acoustic waves (IAWs).

Structural insights into lacto‐N‐biose I recognition by a family 32 carbohydrate‐binding module from Bifidobacterium bifidum

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bifidobacterium bifidum establishes symbiosis with infants by metabolizing lacto‐N‐biose I (LNB) from human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs). The extracellular multidomain enzyme LnbB drives this process, releasing LNB via its catalytic glycoside hydrolase family 20 (GH20) lacto‐N‐biosidase domain.
