Exercise Modalities to Preserve Muscle Mass and Bone Health After Metabolic Bariatric Surgery

open access: yesJournal of Cachexia, Sarcopenia and Muscle, Volume 17, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Metabolic bariatric surgery (MBS) effectively reduces fat mass (FM), but how to best preserve muscle and bone mass after MBS is unknown. Objective This study aimed to evaluate the effect of aerobic, resistance and combined exercise regimens on body composition, bone mineral density (BMD) and physical function in adults following MBS.

Susceptibility‐Guided Versus Empirical Therapy for Helicobacter pylori Infection in a High Resistance Setting: A Randomised Controlled Trial

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 3, June 2026.
In a randomised trial conducted in a high‐resistance region, PCR‐based susceptibility‐guided therapy showed no superiority over empirical therapy for Helicobacter pylori eradication. Empirical clarithromycin‐containing quadruple therapy remained effective despite high clarithromycin resistance.

Gastric Cancer: Pathobiology and Therapeutics

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 6, June 2026.
Gastric cancer is a multistep process driven by the interplay of microbial virulence, host epithelial injury, and evolving molecular reprogramming. Initiation involves pathogen‐induced epigenetic alterations and the early subversion of key oncogenic signaling networks, facilitating the transition from chronic injury to metaplasia and malignant ...

Influence of dietary intake and eating patterns on reactive hypoglycemic events in patients postesophagectomy: A prospective observational study using continuous glucose monitoring

open access: yesNutrition in Clinical Practice, Volume 41, Issue 3, Page 880-891, June 2026.
Abstract Background Esophagectomy causes anatomical changes that can lead to rapid food transit and reactive hypoglycemia (RH). Patients are advised on eating patterns postesophagectomy to prevent RH, but its true incidence and the impact of dietary recommendations remain under‐researched.

Consistent Support Group Attendance Is Vital for Sustained Total Body Weight Loss in a Community Gastroenterology Clinic

open access: yesObesity Science &Practice, Volume 12, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective Obesity is a major modifiable risk factor for gastrointestinal disease. Although lifestyle modification remains the basis of treatment, these interventions are often ineffective when self‐directed. This study aimed to assess the effect on weight loss when lifestyle modification is paired with a support group model.
