Determination of Urinary 5-Hydroxyindoleacetic Acid as a Metabolomics in Gastric Cancer

Journal of Gastrointestinal Cancer, 2015
The aim of this paper is to study urinary5-hydroxyindoleacetic acid (5-HIAA) in gastric cancer patients with a biochemical method and compare this metabolite with normal control and individuals with chronic gastritis. The subjects were 48 histologically proven gastric adenocarcinoma patients.

Acetic acid chromoendoscopy for determining the extent of gastric intestinal metaplasia

Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, 2017
The diagnosis of gastric intestinal metaplasia (IM) is currently performed by histologic assessment of multiple endoscopic biopsies, methylene blue chromoendoscopy, or narrow-band imaging with magnification. However, practical and readily available methods are lacking.

Intramucosal gastric acid concentration determined by glass microelectrode technique

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Biomembranes, 1973
Abstract Penetrations of rat gastric mucosa with Pyrex or H + -sensitive glass microelectrodes in vivo disclosed: (I) The potential difference within the mucosa is negative relative to serosa, the greatest values encountered in the mid-glandular zone; (2) regions of high acidity (H + activity to 170 mequiv/l) were encountered throughout the mucosa;

SIMULTANEOUS DETERMINATIONS OF GASTRIC ACIDITY AND THE ALKALINE TIDE IN URINE

Archives of Internal Medicine, 1925
In the preceding paper, it has been shown that an alkaline tide can be demonstrated in most cases in which hydrochloric acid is secreted by the stomach, but is not present in cases of achlorhydria or in subjects who secrete very little acid. The present paper is a brief report of a few experiments made to determine how much acid the stomach must ...

Determination of the time of onset of action of ranitidine and famotidine on intra‐gastric acidity

Alimentary Pharmacology & Therapeutics, 2002
SummaryBackground : No standard methods exist for determining the onset of action of gastric antisecretory agents in human subjects. Methods : Intragastric pH was measured when placebo, ranitidine 150 mg, ranitidine 75 mg or famotidine 10 mg were administered 30 min after the end of a meal. Results : When the onset of action was defined as the earliest ...

Ion Exchange Resin Dye Compounds for Use in Indirect Determination of Gastric Acidity

Journal of the American Pharmaceutical Association (Scientific ed.), 1956
Abstract The results of a systematic in vitro investigation of the ion exchange resin dye com-pounds are reported. The indicators were selected for their readily recognizable colors. Representative combinations of resins and indicators were prepared and evaluated. A typical procedure for 1 of 21 compounds prepared is presented.

Voltammetric determination of 5-hydroxydole-3-acetic acid in human gastric juice

Talanta, 2000
A method for the determination of the major serotonin metabolite--5-hydroxyindole-3-acetic acid (5-HIAA) in human gastric juice by cyclic voltammetry was described. The measurement conditions were investigated. The potential window was chosen from +0.1 to +0.9 V, the supporting electrolyte was 0.025 M PBS solution (pH 2.0).

Fatty acid chain length determines cholecystokinin secretion and effect on human gastric motility

Gastroenterology, 1999
Fatty acids induce cholecystokinin (CCK) secretion and modify gastric motility, but the chain length requirements for these effects are not known. Nor is it clear whether the effects of fatty acids on gastric motility in humans are CCK mediated or directly exerted.

Studies on acid protease fractions and gastric mucosal atrophy

Gastroenterologia Japonica, 1980
The relationships of two acid protease groups, alkali labile pepsin (ALP) and alkali stable pepsin (ASP), and gastric mucosal atrophy, were studied. ALP and ASP were determined separately by alkali treatment. The extent of fundic gland atrophy was detected by endoscopic congo red test.

Determination of the dose of histamine causing maximal gastric acid secretion in the pylorus-ligated rat

The American Journal of Digestive Diseases, 1967
1. A dose-response curve for histamine phosphate after 2 hr. in the male Sprague-Dawley pylorus-ligated rat is presented. 2. Peak response in both acid output and gastric juice volume occurred with the subcutaneous administration of histamine in a dose of 50 mg./kg. 3.
