Intragastric Migration of Gastric Band Diagnosed During Surgery: A Case Report and Literature
Intragastric band migration (IGBM) is one of the major complications of gastric banding. In this report, we aimed to present a case of IGBM, which was diagnosed intraoperatively, and to review the relevant literature.

Transposable Element–Driven PIEZO Mutation Enhances Locust Flight in Plateau Hypoxia
Why transposable elements (TEs) persisted or expanded in genomes remains a mystery. Using integrated analysis of TE macro‐ and microevolution in locusts, our results showed that thousands of TE insertions promoted widespread adaptive variation. Subfamilies of candidate adaptive TEs amplified and reshaped species‐level genomic architecture.

Morbid obesity is associated with cholesterol gallstone formation, a risk compounded by rapid weight loss. Laparoscopic gastric banding allows for a measured rate of weight loss, but the subsequent risk for developing gallstones is unknown.

The contribution of intrabolus pressure to symptoms induced by gastric banding [PDF]
BACKGROUND & AIMS Mechanisms that ultimately lead to dysphagia are still not totally clear. Patients with laparoscopic gastric banding (LAGB) often complain about dysphagia, regurgitation and heartburn.

Model illustrating the proposed mechanism by which chemotherapy‐induced downregulation of OGT disrupts SNAP29 O‐GlcNAcylation, promoting STX17‐SNAP29‐VAMP8 SNARE complex assembly and protective autophagy, leading to chemoresistance, which in turn establishes a feedforward loop to perpetuate drug tolerance.

Rapidly Growing Mycobacteria Associated with Laparoscopic Gastric Banding, Australia, 2005–2011
Laparoscopic gastric banding is a common bariatric procedure worldwide. Rapidly growing mycobacteria are environmental organisms increasingly seen as pathogens, often in infected prosthetic material.

Review of Gastrointestinal Capsule Robots: Materials, Actuation, Diagnostics, and Therapeutics
This review examines gastrointestinal capsule robots through a systems engineering lens, covering shell materials, actuation and localization strategies, diagnostic modalities, therapeutic interventions, and commercialization status. By mapping the complete technological chain from fabrication to clinical deployment, this work identifies critical gaps ...
