Ferritin as a Nanoparticle Scaffold for Plant‐Produced Next‐Generation Subunit Vaccines

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Protein nanoparticles offer an innovative approach to next‐generation subunit vaccine development by displaying antigenic sequences on the nanoparticle surface. Compared to traditional subunit vaccines, protein nanoparticle vaccines often show improved interaction with the immune system due to their particulate size and repetitive epitope ...

Harnessing ferroptosis from multilayer defense networks to nanoplatforms for specific cancer therapy

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
Nanomaterials target metabolically‐regulated ferroptosis for cancer therapy. Iron‐based or alternative nanoplatforms integrate ferroptosis with chemotherapy, immunotherapy, or radiotherapy. They enable stimulus‐responsive therapies (photothermal, photodynamic, sonodynamic) activated by near‐infrared, light, or ultrasound, achieving potent synergistic ...

Metal nanostructure‐coupled label‐free localized surface plasmon resonance biosensors for rapid and sensitive disease diagnosis

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
LSPR biosensing enables rapid, sensitive, and low‐sample‐volume detection of biomarkers, with broad applications in diagnosing cancer, infectious, and chronic diseases. Advances in nanostructure design, micro/nanofabrication, and microfluidic integration have expanded the potential of LSPR sensors in biomedical diagnostics.

Gastric Adenocarcinoma after Gastric Bypass for Morbid Obesity: A Case Report and Review of the Literature

open access: yesCase Reports in Medicine, 2013
Gastric adenocarcinoma after gastric bypass for morbid obesity is rare but has been described. The diet restriction, weight loss, and difficult assessment of the bypassed stomach, after this procedure, hinder and delay its diagnosis. We present a 52-year-

Identification of a Functional CYP2C8 Variant Allele that Alters Splicing, Reduces Protein Expression, and Increases Drug Exposure

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
This study investigated genetic determinants of the pharmacokinetics of the CYP2C8 index drugs repaglinide and gemfibrozil, and their interaction in healthy participants. Sequencing data from a study with montelukast revealed a novel functional CYP2C8 allele (rs2071426, CYP2C8*19), predicted to create an intronic splice donor site.

Effects of gastric bypass on the digestibility and postprandial metabolic fate of 15N dietary protein in rats.

open access: yesPLoS ONE
Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass may be associated with an alteration of protein bioavailability in relation to intestinal remodeling. Our study aimed to test this hypothesis by Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass. Diet-induced obese rats underwent Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass

Exploring Perspectives on Ozempic: A Netnographic Qualitative Evaluation of the Pro‐Eating Disorder Community on X (Formerly Twitter)

open access: yesInternational Journal of Eating Disorders, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Eating disorders (EDs) are complex conditions with medical and psychosocial implications. Social media (SM) exposure has been associated with increased body image concerns and maladaptive eating behaviors. Pro‐eating disorder (pro‐ED) communities exist across SM platforms and often perpetuate ED‐related identities and behaviors.

Open repair and subsequent stenting to treat median arcuate ligament syndrome secondary to Roux-en-Y gastric bypass

open access: yesJournal of Vascular Surgery Cases and Innovative Techniques
Median arcuate ligament syndrome (MALS) is characterized by external compression of the celiac artery (CA) by the median arcuate ligament. There have been three reports of MALS following gastric bypass surgery, but this pathophysiology remains ...

Roux‐en‐Y gastrojejunostomy and jejunojejunostomy for pyloric obstruction bypass in a horse and a foal

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Gastric outflow obstruction in horses is a rare but challenging condition, often resulting from either congenital anomalies or acquired lesions such as chronic ulceration or pyloric polyps. Conventional surgical bypass procedures, including gastrojejunostomy (GJ) or gastroduodenostomy and less commonly duodenojejunostomy, can ...
