Chronic Atrophic Gastritis: A Review
Journal of Environmental Pathology, Toxicology and Oncology, 2018Chronic atrophic gastritis is a generally asymptomatic condition of great importance because it develops into gastric cancer in a number of patients. It is described as an atrophy of the gastric mucosa. There are two types of atrophic gastritis: a gastric body predominant type in patients with infection of Helicobacter pylori, and an autoimmune type ...

Atrophic gastritis as a cause of hyperhomocysteinaemia [PDF]
SummaryBackground : Hyperhomocysteinaemia is an independent risk factor for atherosclerosis. It is often related to low levels of vitamin B12 and/or folate, enzymatic co‐factors of methionine metabolism. Atrophic gastritis, often caused by Helicobacter pylori infection, may impair vitamin absorption.Aim : To assess whether the presence of atrophic ...

ATROPHIC GASTRITIS IN THE AGED
Australasian Annals of Medicine, 1967SUMMARYThe incidence of gastritis and the correlation of this finding with the presence of circulating parietal cell antibodies and gastric secretory function was studied in 24 asymptomatic subjects aged over 6o years. A gastric biopsy examination, a maximal histamine‐stimulation test, a test for parietal cell antibody and a Schilling test were ...

Serum pepsinogen levels and OLGA/OLGIM staging in the assessment of atrophic gastritis types
Postgraduate medical journal, 2020Background We assessed the validity of using serum pepsinogen tests (sPGTs) to differentiate autoimmune atrophic gastritis (AAG) from environmental atrophic gastritis (EAG). We also investigated the correlation and prognostic value between disease stage,

Assessing the severity of atrophic gastritis
European Journal of Gastroenterology & Hepatology, 2007Atrophic gastritis, mainly the consequence of long-standing Helicobacter pylori infection, is linked to the development of gastric cancer. In the case of atrophic gastritis, severity may be mainly related to the lifetime risk of the single patient to develop gastric cancer, mostly in relation to the degree and extension of mucosal damage.

Hematologic studies in atrophic gastritis
The American Journal of Digestive Diseases, 1953Study of the peripheral blood and of smears of the sternal bone marrow of 15 patients with atrophic gastritis without pernicious anemia revealed no consistent abnormalities which might aid in identifying the cause of the gastric disease. A mild anemia, predominantly microcytic or macrocytic, was observed in seven patients.
