Effects of hemorrhage on gastrointestinal oxygenation

open access: yesIntensive Care Medicine, 2001
(1) To demonstrate that metabolic parameters are better indicators of tissue hypoxia than regional and whole oxygen consumption (VO(2)). (2) To compare intramucosal pH (pHi) in different gastrointestinal segments.Prospective, interventional study.Research laboratory at a university center.Fourteen anesthetized, mechanically ventilated dogs.Twenty ...

ACSS2‐Mediated Histone H4 Lysine 12 Crotonylation (H4K12cr) Alleviates Colitis via Enhancing Transcription of CLDN7

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Histone lysine crotonylation (Kcr) is a highly conserved posttranslational modification implicated with crucial biological processes. This study reveals that ACSS2‐mediated H4K12cr upregulated CLDN7 transcription to strengthen intestinal epithelial barrier.

A histopathologic evaluation of gross lesions excised from commercially important North Altantic marine fishes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1986
Histopathologic studies of lesions found in commercially important North Atlantic marine fishes are uncommon. As part of a comprehensive Northeast Fisheries Center program ("Ocean Pulse") to evaluate environmental and resource health on the U.S ...

Intestinal Epithelial‐Derived USP13 Alleviates Colonic Inflammation by Suppressing GRP78‐mediated Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
USP13 deficiency in intestinal epithelial cells aggravates DSS‐induced colitis by enhancing ER stress and apoptosis. USP13 interacts with GRP78 and reduces its K63‐linked ubiquitination to alleviate epithelial injury. Restoring USP13 expression or targeting the USP13‐GRP78 axis may represent a promising strategy for treating inflammatory bowel disease ...

Gastrointestinal complications of hepatic transplantation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1979
In this series of 150 orthotopic hepatic transplants, clinically significant gastrointestinal hemorrhage occurred in 34 patients (23%). Five patients (15%) survived this complication.

Anti‐Inflammatory Mechanisms of Selenium Nanosheets in Ulcerative Colitis: Protein Corona, GP130 Interaction, and Transcriptomic Profile

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
SeNSs provide a biocompatible, anti‐inflammatory UC therapy. SeNSs form protein coronas enriched with AKT/PI3K/NF‐κB pathway proteins, suppress GP130 via hydrophobic interactions, and inhibit pro‐inflammatory cytokines. In DSS‐induced UC mice, SeNSs reduce inflammation, tissue damage, and disease activity by modulating cytokine, chemokine, and ...

Parvalbumin Interneuron‐Dependent Hippocampal Neurogenesis Evoked by Prolonged Rhythmic Light Flicker

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that prolonged rhythmic 40 Hz light flicker enhances spatial learning by stimulating PV interneuron‐dependent neurogenesis. The light flicker selectively activates PV interneurons, which enhances GABAergic support for the integration of immature neurons in the adult dentate gyrus.

Splenic CT radiomics nomogram predicting the risk of upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage in cirrhosis

open access: yesJournal of Radiation Research and Applied Sciences, 2023
Objective: To explore the application value of splenic CT radiomics nomogram in predicting the risk of upper gastrointestinal hemorrhage. Methods: From October 2019 to September 2021, a total of 110 patients with cirrhotic portal hypertension were ...

Bioinspired Claw‐Engaged Adhesive Microparticles Armed with γGC Alleviate Ulcerative Colitis via Targeted Suppression of Macrophage Ferroptosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
γGC deficiency in ulcerative colitis drives macrophage ferroptosis‐mediated inflammation. Claw‐engaged microparticles armed with γGC (γGC‐MPs) enhance lesion targeting, promoting localized γGC release and tissue uptake. On the cover, Monkey King (Macrophages) was bound by the Immortal‐Binding Rope and subsequently sealed beneath the Five‐Fingered ...

Diagnosis of a Bleeding Dieulafoy Lesion on Computed Tomography and Its Subsequent Embolization

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Gastroenterology, 2004
Dieulafoy lesions are a potentially serious cause of gastrointestinal bleeding. Because they may bleed intermittently, and only be endoscopically evident during hemorrhage, their diagnosis can be challenging.
