Bacteria‐Responsive Nanostructured Drug Delivery Systems for Targeted Antimicrobial Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Bacteria‐responsive nanocarriers are designed to release antimicrobials only in the presence of infection‐specific cues. This selective activation ensures drug release precisely at the site of infection, avoiding premature or indiscriminate release, and enhancing efficacy.

Autonomous Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An ideal implant should mimic native tissues such that it can integrate, sense, heal, and continue to function, i.e., be autonomous. Although early, there are good steps taken in this way, e.g., the development of stimuli‐responsive, self‐powering, self‐actuating, self‐healing, self‐regenerating, and self‐aware implants.

Physical Exercise Alleviates Oxidative Stress and Autonomic Dysregulation in a Rat Model of Inflammatory Bowel Disease

open access: yesAntioxidants
Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) induces immunological and autonomic imbalances. Exercise is a beneficial strategy for controlling IBD symptoms. We investigated the role of exercise on gastrointestinal (GI) motility changes and autonomic parameters in ...

Multifunctional Bioactive Coatings Based on Bioglass, Vitamin D3, and Melittin Deposited via MAPLE for Enhanced Osseointegration, Antibacterial Activity, and Corrosion Resistance of Titanium Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Matrix‐Assisted Pulsed Laser Evaporation (MAPLE) technique is used to cover titanium (Ti) substrates with multifunctional bioactive coatings composed of bioglass, vitamin D3, and melittin. Coatings exhibited excellent chemical integrity and favorable micro/nanostructured morphology (promoting cellular adhesion and viability), and a sustained release of

Developing site-specific guidelines for orchard soils based on bioaccessibility – Can it be done? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Horticultural land within the periurban fringe of NZ towns and cities increasingly is being developed for residential subdivision. Recent surveys have shown that concentrations of As, Cd, Cu, Pb, and ΣDDT (sum of DDT and its degradation products DDE and ...
