Further studies of differentiation of cells from hybrid gastrulae
Developmental Biology, 1968Abstract The hypothesis was tested that low molecular weight inhibitors are made within cells of a lethal hybrid embryo prepared by fertilizing eggs of Rana pipiens with sperm of Rana sylvatica . Cell aggregates from the marginal zone of diploid pipiens gastrulae were treated in standard solution containing bisected hybrid gastrulae.

Pre-gastrula Development of Non-eutherian Mammals
2018Marsupials and monotremes differ from eutherian mammals in many features of their reproduction and development. Some features appear to be representative of transitional stages in evolution from therapsid reptiles to humans and mice, particularly with respect to the extraembryonic tissues that have undergone remarkable modifications to accommodate ...

Mesoderm Cell Migration in the Xenopus Gastrula
1991We analyze the migration of the prospective head mesoderm (HM) across the blastocoel roof (BCR) during gastrulation of the Xenopus embryo. Cell spreading and the concomitant appearance of cytoplasmic lamellae depend on the interaction of HM cells with fibronectin (FN) fibrils, which cover the inner surface of the BCR.

Mesoderm cell migration in the vertebrate gastrula
Seminars in Developmental Biology, 1994Abstract Mesoderm migration across the inner surface of the outer embryonic layer is an essential morphogenetic mechanism in vertebrate gastrulation. Conserved traits of this process are (1) cadherin-dependent cohesion of the mesoderm, and (2) a predominant role for fibronectin in mediating mesoderm cell-substrate interactions.

In vitro studies of amphibian gastrula cells.
Journal of submicroscopic cytology, 1982Experiments are presented to determine whether Rana pipiens gastrula cells differentiate in vitro as they do in vivo with respect to rate, morphology and spreading characteristics. Comparisons are made between presumptive germ layer cells isolated at late blastula, cultured for 24 h, and the same cell types form late gastrula cultured for 1 h (LeBlanc ...

Respiration of the Parts of the Rana pipiens Gastrula
Physiological Zoology, 1953T IE respiration of the parts of the imphibian gastrula has been studied by many investigators. The work has been directed along three lines of inquiry: first, to learn whether the organizer has a higher respiratory activity than the presumptive epidermis; second, to map the respiratory pattern of the gastrula; third, to determine the nature of the ...
