Combining retrofitting techniques, renewable energy resources and regulations for residential buildings to achieve energy efficiency in gated communities

open access: yesAin Shams Engineering Journal, 2022
This paper presents a multi-objective method of analysing the energy efficiency associated with upper class houses in Gated Communities in Arid Zones. The application of building energy regulations has an impact on improving energy efficiency.

Beyond Presumptions: Toward Mechanistic Clarity in Metal‐Free Carbon Catalysts for Electrochemical H2O2 Production via Data Science

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐free carbon catalysts enable the sustainable synthesis of hydrogen peroxide via two‐electron oxygen reduction; however, active site complexity continues to hinder reliable interpretation. This review critiques correlation‐based approaches and highlights the importance of orthogonal experimental designs, standardized catalyst passports ...

Perspectives of gated communities’ socio-spatial integration: the case of post-socialist Lithuania

open access: yesBelgeo, 2018
as a new style of residential development, gated communities appear to be a reflection of territorial and social segregation in the suburbs of post-socialist cities.

Gated communities entrench social segregation in suburban communities which are already racially similar. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Do gated communities contribute to increased segregation in urban areas? While the answer almost seems self-evident, there is very little empirical data available to actually measure their effect in metropolitan areas.

Self‐Assembled Inorganic Nanomembrane Tubes: Rolled‐Up Piezoelectrics for Microacoustic Wave‐Based Actuators and Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates a self‐assembly process to generate free‐standing piezoelectric nanomembranes, forming ultracompact microtubular acoustic wave sensors and actuators. The miniaturized 3D piezoelectric platform reported in this work can be applied in telecommunication, energy harvesting, and acoustofluidics. Moreover, the 3D self‐assembly can add

3D Anodic Alumina Nanoarchitectures: A Decade of Progress from Foundational Science to Functional Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ordered three‐dimensional anodic aluminum oxide (3D‐AAO) nanoarchitectures with longitudinal and transverse pores enable architecture‐driven metamaterials. The review maps fabrication advances, including hybrid pulse anodization, and shows how 3D‐AAO templates tailor properties across magnetism, energy, catalysis, and sensing.
