Exploring the Reactivity of Perphenylheptasilanes: Synthesis of Terminally Functionalized Derivatives

open access: yesZeitschrift für anorganische und allgemeine Chemie, Volume 652, Issue 7, 6 May 2026.
Different methods to prepare 1,7‐disubstituted tetradecaphenylheptasilanes are explored. The triflated heptasilane TfO‐(SiPh2)7‐OTf reacts with alkali metal halides to produce the 1,7‐dihalogenides X‐(SiPh2)7‐X (X = F, Cl, Br, I). The 1,7‐dihydrogen derivative H‐(SiPh2)7‐H is obtained with LiAlH4 or (i‐Bu)2AlH as reducing agents.

Resolving Complex Multiscale Structure of Magneto‐ and Electroactive Polymer Composites With an Ionic Liquid

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 25, 4 May 2026.
Multiscale ionic liquid segregation into nano‐sized domains in the unconfined amorphous polymer phase and into micron‐sized pores enables a coupled magneto‐ and electroactive responses. ABSTRACT A multiscale understanding of the structure of ionogels – nanoparticle‐free polymer composites incorporating ionic liquids – is essential for enhancing their ...

A Mechanical Engineering Approach Toward Practical Calcium Metal Anodes with Improved Electrochemical Performance

open access: yesBatteries &Supercaps, Volume 9, Issue 5, May 2026.
More practical and reproducible: This work presents a method to prepare Ca foils with a thickness of 100 µm, which provide enhanced electrochemical performance regarding reproducibility and stability. Furthermore, the excess of Ca at cell level can be reduced and the handling of Ca metal electrodes is simplified.
