The Surface Ultrastructure of Gaucher Cells
American Journal of Clinical Pathology, 1979The Gaucher cells of seven patients with Gaucher's disease were examined by both transmission and scanning electron microscopy. The ultrastructure of the cells, as seen by transmission electron microscopy, did not differ from that reported in the literature. The surface structure varied not only in the different patients but also in the same individual.

Four patients with chronic granulocytic leukemia (CGL) also have Gaucher cells present in their bone marrow aspirates. In one, a child with acute lymphoblastic leukemia, the association of leukemia and Gaucher cells seems coincidental since there was a family history of Gaucher's disease.

Histoenzymological activities of gaucher cells
Journal of Inherited Metabolic Disease, 1981AbstractSeven samples from liver and/or spleen of patients with Gaucher's disease have been investigated by histoenzymological techniques. Unexpected results such as β‐glucosidase positivity, increase of other hydrolases, and increase of dehydrogenase activities are discussed.

Abnormal properties of red blood cells suggest a role in the pathophysiology of Gaucher disease
Gaucher disease (GD) is a lysosomal storage disorder caused by glucocerebrosidase deficiency. It is notably characterized by splenomegaly, complex skeletal involvement, ischemic events of the spleen and bones, and the accumulation of Gaucher cells in ...

Acquired Gaucher's cells in Hodgkin's disease
The American Journal of Medicine, 1982A patient with Hodgkin's disease associated with low glucocerebrosidase levels in the peripheral leukocytes, and Gaucher's cells in the bone marrow and lymph nodes, is described. After MOPP therapy, complete remission of Hodgkin's disease was accompanied by normalization of the glucocerebrosidase level and disappearance of Gaucher's cells.

Gaucher's cells in acute leukemia of childhood
The Journal of Pediatrics, 1970Summary Morphologically typica Gaucher's cells were found in the marrow and liver of a 9 1/2-year-old Causcasian girl with acute leukemia. Occurrence of these cells in an established phenomenon in chronic adult myelocytic leukemia, and the Gaucher's cells in these circumstances should be recognized as probably representing a “secondary” phenomenon ...

Pseudo-Gaucher Cells in Multiple Myeloma
International Journal of Surgical Pathology, 2008A case of multiple myeloma is reported in which the bone marrow contained sheets of histiocytes with light microscopic features mimicking Gaucher cells. The patient had no clinical evidence of inherited Gaucher's disease. These pseudo-Gaucher cells obscured neoplastic plasma cells causing diagnostic difficulty.

Histologic and Histochemical Investigation of Gaucher Cells
Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, 1982Electron microscopic investigations suggest that morphologically, Gaucher cells and histiocytes are very similar. The fact that there are tubular elements in the lysosomes strongly suggests the possibility of lysosomes as the precursors of Gaucher bodies.

Pseudo-Gaucher cells in multiple myeloma
The American Journal of Medicine, 1979A bone biopsy specimen from a patient with multiple myeloma showed numerous Gaucher-like cells scattered throughout a homogeneous background of plasma cells. Further studies using histochemical stains, immunofluorescence, and light and electron microscopy were carried out to further define these cells. Light microscopy of Wright-stained and hematoxylin

Histochemical and Ultrastructural Study of Gaucher Cells
1981Findings are presented of the histochemical and electron microscopical studies of several bioptic specimens of a juvenile form of Gaucher's disease. The storage was restricted to the macrophages with the exception of occasional hepatocytes in which structures closely resembling the storage tubules were found. The cytoplasmic striations of GC were found
