A note on the development of gaucher cells in a newborn infant

The Journal of Pediatrics, 1959
Summary The newborn sibling of a child known to have Gaucher's disease had, in addition to the stigmas of Mongolism, clinical enlargement of the liver and spleen and thrombocytopenic purpura. The spleen, at postmortem examination, contained cells which justified the diagnosis of Gaucher's disease.

Pathology of the Gaucher cell.

Progress in clinical and biological research, 1982
The Gaucher cell results from the accumulation of excessive glucocerebroside in cells of the monocyte-macrophage system. It is characterized ultrastructurally by the presence of cytoplasmic inclusions which consist of tubule-like structures measuring 130 to 150 Ao in diameter.

Pseudo-Gaucher cell in IgMk plasmacytoid lymphoma

The American Journal of Surgical Pathology, 1981
Cells resembling those of Gaucher's disease were found on imprints of a lymph node from a patient with a plasmacytoid lymphoma. These cells contained nonspecific esterase, and electron-dense crystal-like structures. Associated plasma cells stained positively with anti-kappa and anti-mu sera but few macrophages were stained.

Foamy transformed Gaucher cells.

Zentralblatt fur Pathologie, 1992
Two cases of Gaucher's disease (Types I and III) are described with a substantial part of the storage cell population in several organs (liver, adrenal cortex) intensively vacuolized and transformed into non-specific foam cells. The transformation process encompassed massive three-dimensional distension of the lysosomal system filled with typical lipid
