The dynamics of quark-gluon plasma and AdS/CFT
In these pedagogical lectures, we present the techniques of the AdS/CFT correspondence which can be applied to the study of real time dynamics of a strongly coupled plasma system.

Rapid screening of staphylokinase protein variants using an unpurified cell‐free expression system
An unpurified cell‐free protein synthesis (CFPS) platform enables rapid functional screening of staphylokinase variants. Direct plasminogen‐activation assays performed in microplate format provide real‐time activity readouts, allowing rapid identification and ranking of variants with improved or reduced fibrinolytic activity without protein ...

Spacetime as a quantum circuit
We propose that finite cutoff regions of holographic spacetimes represent quantum circuits that map between boundary states at different times and Wilsonian cutoffs, and that the complexity of those quantum circuits is given by the gravitational action ...

Perturbations of anti-de Sitter black holes
I review perturbations of black holes in asymptotically anti-de Sitter space. I show how the quasi-normal modes governing these perturbations can be calculated analytically and discuss the implications on the hydrodynamics of gauge theory fluids per the ...

Objective Studies of damage accrual in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) show associations with disease activity measured by the SLE Disease Activity Index 2000 (SLEDAI‐2K), but these associations are imperfect. SLEDAI scores are powerfully influenced by weightings (1‐8) assigned to each domain.

The SU(2) Wess-Zumino-Witten spin chain sigma model
Classical strings propagating in AdS 3 × S 3 × T 4 supported with Neveu-Schwarz-Neveu-Schwarz flux are described by a Wess-Zumino-Witten model. In this note, we study the emergence of their semiclassical SU(2) spectrally flowed sectors as the Landau ...

Entwinement as a possible alternative to complexity
Unlike the standard entanglement entropy considered in the holographic con- text, entwinement measures entanglement between degrees of freedom that are not associated to a spatial subregion. Entwinement is defined for two-dimensional CFTs with a discrete

TransverseDiff gravity is to scalar-tensor as unimodular gravity is to General Relativity
Transverse Diffeomorphism (TDiff) theories are well-motivated theories of gravity from the quantum perspective, which are based upon a gauge symmetry principle.

This study examines how several molten high‐silicon electrical steels interact with both conventional and recycled MgO–C refractories. For this, various immersion experiments are conducted. In addition to infiltration, a number of mechanisms are identified and explained that control the corrosion of the refractory material.
