Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

Correlated Gaussian Sources over Orthogonal Gaussian Channels

open access: yes, 2008
We consider the transmission of correlated Gaussian sources over orthogonal Gaussian channels. It is shown that the Amplify and Forward (AF) scheme which simplifies the design of encoders and the decoder, performs close to the optimal scheme even ...

In Situ Micromechanical Study of Bimodal γ′–γ″ Precipitate Assemblies in Ni–Cr–Al–Nb Superalloy

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A Ni–Cr–Al–Nb superalloy with a bimodal γ′–γ″ precipitate distribution is developed. Composite precipitate assemblies form through heterogeneous nucleation, effectively impeding dislocation motion. Micropillar compression reveals high strength at room and elevated temperatures, governed by precipitate shearing, with coupled faulting mechanisms ...

Noise adaptive training for subspace Gaussian mixture models

open access: yes, 2013
Noise adaptive training (NAT) is an effective approach to normalise environmental distortions when training a speech recogniser on noise-corrupted speech.

Toward Knowledge‐Based Workflows: A Semantic Approach to Atomistic Simulations for Mechanical and Thermodynamic Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Knowledge‐based atomistic workflows are presented for mechanical and thermodynamic properties. By coupling modular simulations with ontology‐aligned metadata and provenance, Fe case studies on elastic behavior, defects, thermal properties, and Hall–Petch strengthening reveal how FAIR, queryable, and reusable simulation data can be generated. Mechanical

FREQUENCY DOMAIN DAMAGE CALCULATION AND EXPERIMENTAL VERIFICATION OF NON-GAUSSIAN EXCITATION BASED ON GMM MODEL (MT)

open access: yesJixie qiangdu, 2023
In order to study the frequency domain calculation method of non-Gaussian excitation, Gaussian mixture model(GMM) is introduced. The measured non-Gaussian excitation is transformed into probabilistic power spectrum(PPSD) through GMM model, so that the ...

Discrete Approximations of Gaussian Smoothing and Gaussian Derivatives

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Imaging and Vision
AbstractThis paper develops an in-depth treatment concerning the problem of approximating the Gaussian smoothing and the Gaussian derivative computations in scale-space theory for application on discrete data. With close connections to previous axiomatic treatments of continuous and discrete scale-space theory, we consider three main ways of ...

An Experimental High‐Throughput Approach for the Screening of Hard Magnet Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An entire workflow for the high‐throughput characterization and analysis of compositionally graded magnetic films is presented. Characterization protocols, data management tools and data analysis approaches are illustrated with test case Sm(Fe, V)12 based films.

Adaptive Deletion of Gaussian Ellipsoids in 3D Gaussian Splatting

open access: yesMathematics
As a leading method for Novel View Synthesis (NVS), 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) faces limitations. Fixed thresholds governing Gaussian scale and opacity lead to over-reconstruction or under-reconstruction, while the linear penalty used for handling ...
