Gaussian, Hermite-Gaussian, and Laguerre-Gaussian beams: A primer

open access: yes, 2004
The paper aims at presenting a didactic and self-contained overview of Gauss-Hermite and Gauss-Laguerre laser beam modes. The usual textbook approach for deriving these modes is to solve the Helmoltz electromagnetic wave equation within the paraxial approximation.

Mechanistic basis for inhibition of the extended‐spectrum β‐lactamase GES‐1 by enmetazobactam and tazobactam

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is of huge importance, resulting in over 1 million deaths each year. Here, we describe how a new drug, enmetazobactam, designed to help fight resistant bacterial diseases, inhibits a key enzyme (GES‐1) responsible for AMR. Our data show it is a more potent inhibitor than the related tazobactam, with high‐level computation

The Gaussian Sequence 3th Order Mod m

open access: yesCommunications in Advanced Mathematical Sciences
The work addresses the study of third-order recurrent sequences for mod m cases. Thus, some definitions aim to transform infinite sequences into finite ones.

High-dimensional Gaussian model selection on a Gaussian design [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We consider the problem of estimating the conditional mean of a real Gaussian variable $\nolinebreak Y=\sum_{i=1}^p\nolinebreak\theta_iX_i+\nolinebreak \epsilon$ where the vector of the covariates $(X_i)_{1\leq i\leq p}$ follows a joint Gaussian ...

Decrypting cancer's spatial code: from single cells to tissue niches

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Spatial transcriptomics maps gene activity across tissues, offering powerful insights into how cancer cells are organised, switch states and interact with their surroundings. This review outlines emerging computational, artificial intelligence (AI) and geospatial approaches to define cell states, uncover tumour niches and integrate spatial data with ...

Gaussian Generalized Tetranacci Numbers

open access: yes, 2019
In this paper, we define Gaussian generalized Tetranacci numbers and as special cases, we investigate Gaussian Tetranacci and Gaussian Tetranacci-Lucas numbers with their ...

Elasticity of Gaussian and nearly Gaussian phantom networks [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2000
We study the elastic properties of phantom networks of Gaussian and nearly-Gaussian springs. We show that the stress tensor of a Gaussian network coincides with the conductivity tensor of an equivalent resistor network, while its elastic constants vanish.

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

Gaussian work extraction from random Gaussian states is nearly impossible

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2023
Quantum thermodynamics can be naturally phrased as a theory of quantum state transformation and energy exchange for small-scale quantum systems undergoing thermodynamical processes, thereby making the resource theoretical approach very well suited. A key

Diffusion‐based size determination of solute particles: a method adapted for postsynaptic proteins

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We present a diffusion‐based approach for measuring the size of macromolecules and their complexes, and demonstrate its use on postsynaptic proteins. The method requires fluorescein‐labelled protein samples, a microfluidic device that maintains laminar flow for said samples, a microscope recording the emitted fluorescent signals, and an analytic ...
