Continued fractions and Gaussian Integers

open access: yes, 2023
Neste estudo, abordaremos a extensão de frações contínuas para os números complexos em termos de inteiros Gaussianos. Estudaremos resultados semelhantes ao teorema de Lagrange, e algumas propriedades que dão estimativas de quão boas aproximações as ...

Energy‐Aware Perturbation Optimization for Memristor‐Array Convolutional Neural Networks

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Memristor‐array inference becomes more energy efficient when layer inputs are reshaped before computation. Sinusoidal perturbation encoding with dual‐threshold screening reduces active voltage pulses and contracts ADC input‐current ranges, jointly lowering crossbar and peripheral energy while preserving accuracy across hardware MNIST validation, deep ...

Geodesic Gaussian Integer Continued Fractions

open access: yesMichigan Mathematical Journal, 2020
This article deals with geodesic continued fractions with Gaussian integer coefficients. The author provides the Farey graph which is modeled by the realization in \(H^3\) where Farey neighbors are joined by hyperbolic geodesics as seen in the Farey tessellation of \(H^3\) by Farey octahedrons.

Accelerating Materials Discovery: A Review of Machine Learning in X‐Ray Absorption Spectroscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This review systematically details how machine learning transforms X‐ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) analysis. It covers advanced deep learning architectures for structure‐spectra mapping and inverse tasks, while discussing key challenges like the simulation‐to‐reality gap.

Beating the Standard Quantum Limit With Single‐Photon‐Added Coherent States

open access: yesAdvanced Physics Research, EarlyView.
The standard quantum limit (SQL) defines how quantum fluctuations of light constrain measurement precision. Here, we show that injecting a single‐photon‐added coherent state and a weak coherent state in the input ports of a Mach–Zehnder interferometer reduces phase uncertainty below the SQL.

Codes over Gaussian Integers for Spatial Modulation

open access: yes, 2020
Spatial modulation is a low-complexity multipleinput/ multipleoutput transmission technique. The recently proposed spatial permutation modulation (SPM) extends the concept of spatial modulation. It is a coding approach, where the symbols are dispersed in

The epistemic ceiling: Veteran practitioners' perspectives on primary qualification entry standards for teaching secondary mathematics in Scotland

open access: yesBritish Educational Research Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract This paper presents an exploratory analysis of contemporary curricular and professional qualification policies in the Scottish education system, focusing on minimum qualification thresholds for mathematics teaching. The study examines how veteran secondary mathematics practitioners perceive the structural and pedagogical implications of using ...

Hermitian K-theory of the Gaussian 2-integers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In this thesis we the calculate the 2-completed homotopy type of the hermitian K-theory of the ring of Gaussian 2-integers. Motivation and background from number theory, algebra and algebraic geometry are also provided. We give introductions to classical

A perspective on parsimonious hybrid models for online use: Augmenting fundamental models with ARIMA disturbances

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Abstract Hybrid models (HMs) combine fundamental model (FM) equations with empirical components. These models can lead to improved predictions because they reduce process/model mismatch and can account for phenomena that are not considered in the FM equations.
