ABSTRACT Scrotal circumference (SC) is a key reproductive indicator in beef cattle and an important predictor of male puberty and correlated female fertility. In this study, we evaluated young Nellore bulls raised under combinations of pasture and feedlot environments and modeled SC using a “double” reaction norm model. Additive genetic variance for SC

The Matsumoto–Yor property and the structure of the Wishart distribution
This paper establishes a link between a generalized matrix Matsumoto–Yor (MY) property and the Wishart distribution. This link highlights certain conditional independence properties within blocks of the Wishart and leads to a new characterization of the ...

The Gaussian distribution is a popular choice of density for the modeling of continuous observations, often combined with a specific prior in the context of Bayesian inference. When this prior is conjugate (e.g., the normal-gamma inverse distribution in the univariate case), it can be proved that the posterior and predictive distributions have ...

Variance Matrix Priors for Dirichlet Process Mixture Models With Gaussian Kernels
Summary Bayesian mixture modelling is widely used for density estimation and clustering. The Dirichlet process mixture model (DPMM) is the most popular Bayesian non‐parametric mixture modelling approach. In this manuscript, we study the choice of prior for the variance or precision matrix when Gaussian kernels are adopted.

Objective Bayes factors for Gaussian directed acyclic graphical models [PDF]
We propose an objective Bayesian method for the comparison of all Gaussian directed acyclic graphical models defined on a given set of variables. The method, which is based on the notion of fractional Bayes factor (BF), requires a single default ...

Multivariate and Online Transfer Learning With Uncertainty Quantification
ABSTRACT Untreated periodontitis causes inflammation within the supporting tissue of the teeth and can ultimately lead to tooth loss. Modeling periodontal outcomes is beneficial as they are difficult and time‐consuming to measure, but disparities in representation between demographic groups must be considered.

Bayesian Covariance Matrix Estimation using a Mixture of Decomposable Graphical Models [PDF]
Estimating a covariance matrix efficiently and discovering its structure are important statistical problems with applications in many fields. This article takes a Bayesian approach to estimate the covariance matrix of Gaussian data.

In surveillance applications, the extent states and measurements of extended targets received by sensors are time-varying. In this paper, we propose a joint tracking and classification (JTC) method for single extended target under the presence of clutter

Robust Radar Tracking via Joint Adaptive EKF and Power Allocation Under Dynamic Clutter
ABSTRACT In this letter, a joint adaptive extended Kalman filter (AEKF) and power allocation strategy is proposed for robust multitarget tracking in colocated MIMO radar systems under dynamic clutter. The unknown clutter intensity is incorporated into the measurement model and characterized by a truncated inverse gamma distribution.
