Application of GCV in Geophysical Diffraction Tomography
69th EAGE Conference and Exhibition incorporating SPE EUROPEC 2007, 2007P032 Application of GCV in Geophysical Diffraction Tomography E. Santos (CEFET/BA and Stanford University) & A. Bassrei* (Federal University of Bahia) SUMMARY Since inverse problems are usually ill-posed it is necessary to use some method to reduce their deficiencies. The method that we choose is the regularization by derivative matrices.

General catalogue of variable stars: Version GCVS 5.1
Astronomy Reports, 2017Work aimed at compiling detailed catalogs of variable stars in the Galaxy, which has been carried out continuously by Moscow variable-star researchers since 1946 on behalf of the International Astronomical Union, has entered the stage of the publication of the 5th, completely electronic edition of the General Catalogue of Variable Stars (GCVS).

Surface fitting using GCV smoothing splines on supercomputers
Proceedings of the 1995 ACM/IEEE conference on Supercomputing (CDROM) - Supercomputing '95, 1995The task of fitting smoothing spline surfaces to meteorological data such as temperature or rainfall observations is computationally intensive. The Generalised Cross Validation (GCV) smoothing algorithm is O(n3) computationally, and memory requirements are 0(n2). Fitting a spline to a moderately sized data set of, for example.

A novel GCV-based criterion for parametric PSF estimation
2014 12th International Conference on Signal Processing (ICSP), 2014We propose a generalized cross validation (GCV) as a novel criterion for estimating a point spread function (PSF) from the degraded image only. The PSF is obtained by minimizing this new objective functional over a family of Wiener processings. Based on this estimated PSF, we then perform deconvolution using our recently developed SURE-LET algorithm ...

Abstract Composition depth profiles were extracted from simulated ARXPS data using regularization, with the regularization parameter determined by three different methods (Robust GCV, Modified GCV, and the Discrepancy Principle) that require tuning parameters.

Stable expression of green fluorescent protein mediated by GCV in Giardia canis
Parasitology International, 2008Giardia canis can be infected with a double-stranded RNA virus, that is giardiavirus (G. canis virus, GCV). In this study, green fluorescent protein (GFP) was stably expressed in G. canis mediated by GCV. The plasmid pNEO/GDH/MCS/GFP, containing the neomycin phosphotransferase (NEO) encoding region flanked by the 636 nt of 5'-terminus and the 2174 nt ...

CGLS-GCV: a hybrid algorithm for low-rank-deficient problems
Applied Numerical Mathematics, 2003An algorithm is given for solving two rank-deficient problems: construction of a minimum norm solution of the unperturbed least squares problem for a linear system and computation of approximations of the column (row) space of the coefficient matrix. The algorithm's attribute is the satisfactory detection of the rank even if the singular spectrum has ...

Thresholding and GCV applicability in more realistic situations
2001We have exploited the sparsity of a wavelet representation to motivate thresholding as a curve fitting method and to find GCV as an asymptotically optimal threshold assessment procedure. We explained that sparsity is a sort of smoothness and explained that wavelets are well suited to measure this concept of piecewise smoothness.
