Are vehicle lifespan caps an effective and efficient method for reducing US light-duty vehicle fleet GHG emissions?

open access: yesEnvironmental Research: Infrastructure and Sustainability
With light duty vehicles (LDVs) responsible for 17% of annual US greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, integrating emerging GHG-reducing technologies into the fleet is essential.

Quantifying soil organic carbon after biochar application: how to avoid (the risk of) counting CDR twice?

open access: yesFrontiers in Climate
Pyrogenic carbon capture and storage (PyCCS), which comprises the production of biomass, its pyrolysis, and the non-oxidative use of the biochar to create carbon sinks, has been identified as a promising negative emission technology with co-benefits by ...

An Early‐Stage Bond Wire Lift‐Off Defect Identification Method Based on Surface Temperature Rise Characteristics

open access: yesIET Power Electronics, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
Bond wire lift‐off is one of the primary failure modes in power modules and early identification of its degradation state and lift‐off ratio is crucial for ensuring reliable operation. Conventional methods have limitations in quantifying early‐stage lift‐off defects.

Oxychlorine Species on Mars: A Review

open access: yesReviews of Geophysics, Volume 63, Issue 4, December 2025.
Abstract Oxychlorine species (mainly perchlorate and chlorate) have been identified at multiple locations on the surface of Mars by both orbiter and in situ rovers. They have also been found in martian meteorites. Cl‐isotopes in meteoritic minerals suggest that an oxychlorine cycle has been operating on the martian surface for the last ∼4 billion years.

Modeling study of PM2.5 pollution episode of early spring 2019 in Hokkaido, Japan caused by biomass burning in Northeast China [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
Biomass burning (BB), in particular agricultural waste burning (Agri-BB), occurs at random locations, scales, and times. These factors make it challenging to detect Agri-BB accurately through satellite observations.

High Mobility and Electrostatics in GeSn Quantum Wells With SiGeSn Barriers

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, Volume 11, Issue 19, November 18, 2025.
This study investigates electrical transport in GeSn quantum wells with SiGeSn barriers and characterizes hole mobilities as a function of hole density. The observed mobilities are higher than previously reported for GeSn quantum wells with similar compositions but with a Ge barrier.

Design proposal for a ballast treatment system to reduce the invasion of species in the Galapagos [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
Ballast water is necessary to maintain the stability of the vessels when loading and unloading their merchandise. However, it is also one of the main causes of species invasions in many ports around the world.

Preliminary investigation of microplastic contamination in river snails (Filopaludina martensi) in Eastern Thailand and evaluation of human exposure [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
Microplastic contamination in the aquatic environment is a growing environmental issue with implications for food safety concerns. This study investigated microplastics in river snails (Filopaludina martensi) obtained from local markets in the eastern ...

Extremely High Electron Mobility in GeSn Epitaxial Films by Chemical Vapor Deposition

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, Volume 11, Issue 11, July 2025.
Transport properties in n‐GeSn films are investigated. By applying tensile stress or increasing the Sn fraction, electron mobility is significantly enhanced since more electrons populate the Γ‐valley, where the electron effective mass is small. A remarkably high electron Hall mobility of 6,200 cm2V−1s−1 is achieved in the strained‐relaxed n‐Ge0.88Sn0 ...
