A method of selecting grid size to account for Hertz deformation in finite element analysis of spur gears [PDF]
A method of selecting grid size for the finite element analysis of gear tooth deflection is presented. The method is based on a finite element study of two cylinders in line contact, where the criterion for establishing element size was that there be ...

Abstract Recruiting and retaining school leaders is a challenge in many systems worldwide. Previous research has identified three distinct ways in which succession planning can be conceptualised and approached: a ‘pipeline’ approach seeks to match supply and demand for the posts that need filling; a ‘pool’ strategy involves proactively identifying and ...

Modal analysis of multistage gear systems coupled with gearbox vibrations [PDF]
An analytical procedure to simulate vibrations in gear transmission systems is presented. This procedure couples the dynamics of the rotor-bearing gear system with the vibration in the gear box structure. The model synthesis method is used in solving the

The impact of trauma‐informed teacher education
Abstract In this study, two cohorts of university students in an employment‐based teacher education course undertook trauma‐informed education training embedded within their coursework to enhance their preparedness to work with diverse learners and their self‐efficacy for trauma‐informed teaching. With increased calls for teacher preparation programmes

Dynamics of early planetary gear trains [PDF]
A method to analyze the static and dynamic loads in a planetary gear train was developed. A variable-variable mesh stiffness (VVMS) model was used to simulate the external and internal spur gear mesh behavior, and an equivalent conventional gear train ...

ABSTRACT The ecology of forests, their losses, and terrestrial wood decomposition dynamics have been intensively studied and reviewed. In the aquatic realm, reviews have concentrated on large wood (LW) in rivers and the transition from freshwater to marine environments in the Pacific Northwest of North America. However, a comprehensive global synthesis

Life analysis of helical gear sets using Lundberg-Palmgren theory [PDF]
A mathematical model is developed for surface fatigue life of helical gears. The expected fatigue life of a pinion, gear, or gear set may be calculated from the model. An equation for the dynamic capacity of a gear set was also derived.

The spread of non‐native species
ABSTRACT The global redistribution of species through human agency is one of the defining ecological signatures of the Anthropocene, with biological invasions reshaping biodiversity patterns, ecosystem processes and services, and species interactions globally.

Gear tooth stress measurements of two helicopter planetary stages [PDF]
Two versions of the planetary reduction stages from U.S. Army OH-58 helicopter main rotor transmissions were tested at NASA Lewis. One sequential and one nonsequential planetary were tested.
