Upscaling Pulsed Laser Fragmentation in Liquids by Advanced Free‐Flow Setups

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Advanced flow setups providing thin colloid films are introduced to upscale pulsed laser fragmentation in liquids for sustainable nanoparticle synthesis. Their potential is demonstrated by yielding remarkably small ZnO nanoparticles of <7 nm. Numerical simulations complement the study, revealing that the superior performance can be attributed to ...

Strong Photoluminescence Enhancement in All‐Dielectric Ge Thin Film Metasurfaces for Integration on the Si Platform

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Germanium (Ge) all‐dielectric metasurfaces can be leveraged to strongly enhance the radiative emission from Ge layers grown on silicon‐on‐insulator substrates by industry‐standard processes. At room‐temperature, the narrowband photoluminescence (PL) intensity is enhanced by a factor ∼40× with respect to unstructured films.

Reduction of gear pair transmission error with tooth profile modification [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The gear noise problem that widely occurs in power transmission systems is typically characterised by one or more high amplitude acoustic signals. The noise originates from the vibration of the gear pair system caused by transmission error excitation ...

Automated optimal design of a two-stage helical gear reducer [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The design space of multi-stage transmissions is usually very large and heavily constrained. This places significant demands on the algorithm employed to search it, but successful optimization has the potential to yield considerably better designs than ...

Comparison of Environmental DNA Metabarcoding and Trawl Data Highlights Gear Selectivity of Marine Demersal Fish Surveys on the Faroese Plateau

open access: yesEnvironmental DNA
Environmental DNA (eDNA) has emerged as a promising tool for studying fish dynamics in aquatic environments. However, the quantitative capabilities of eDNA metabarcoding, especially in marine systems, remain contentious due to limited comparative studies.
