MAGTWIST: A Magnetically‐Driven Rotary Actuator Using a Traveling‐Wave With Integrated Stiffness Tunability

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
MAGTWIST: A compact magnetic rotary actuator, enabling smooth, stepless rotation, and on‐demand locking. Inspired by peristalsis, a soft polymer belt generates a traveling‐wave, enabling 270° rotation when heated. Cooling stiffens the belt, locking it in position and enabling it to withstand high loads.

Geometrie coniugate

open access: yesDisegnare con, 2012
Lo studio degli ingranaggi si basa sulle geometrie coniugate in cui due curve o due superfici si mantengono costantemente in contatto pur se in movimento reciproco.

A basis for the analysis of surface geometry of spiral bevel gears [PDF]

open access: yes, 1983
Geometrical procedures helpful in the fundamental studies of the surface geometry of spiral bevel gears are summarized. These procedures are based upon: (1) fundamental gear geometry and kinematics as exposited by Buckingham, et al; (2) formulas ...

In Situ 3D Bioprinting: Impact of Cross‐Linking on the Adhesive Properties of Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In situ 3D bioprinting enables the direct deposition of cell‐laden, adhesive biomaterials for on‐site tissue regeneration. This review provides a comprehensive overview of how cross‐linking influences the bioadhesive properties of hydrogels used in 3D bioprinting, highlighting cross‐linking triggers, bioadhesion mechanisms, polymer interpenetration ...

The Effects of Blank Geometry on Gear Rolling for Large Gear Modules: Experiments and Finite Element Simulations

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
Gear rolling is a forming process to produce gear wheels by plastic deformation. The advantage of the process is to eliminate the chip formation during production and also to improve the product properties since the non-metallic inclusions will be ...

Melt Electrowriting High Resolution Poly(ethylene‐co‐vinyl acetate) Scaffolds for Soft Tissue Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This work pioneers melt electrowriting (MEW) of polyethylene vinyl acetate (PEVA) to fabricate ultra‐compliant, high‐resolution scaffolds. By integrating microscale precision with soft tissue‐like biomechanics, PEVA overcomes stiffness‐driven limitations of conventional MEW polymers, establishing a mechanically biomimetic platform for soft tissue ...

Changes in Surface Topography and Light Load Hardness in Thrust Bearings as a Reason of Tribo-Electric Loads

open access: yesLubricants
The article focuses on the findings of endurance tests on thrust bearings. In addition to the mechanical load (axial load: 10 ≤ C0/P ≤ 19, lubrication gap: 0.33 µm ≤ h0 ≤ 1.23 µm), these bearings are also exposed to electrical loads (voltage: 20 Vpp ≤ U0

Porous Hybrid Soft Actuators From Liquid Crystal Networks and Lyotropic Chromonic Liquid Crystal Templated Hydrogels

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The graphic illustrates the design of a hybrid bilayer composed of a liquid crystal hydrogel (LCH) and a liquid crystal network (LCN). The figure highlights the magnetic alignment of the chromonic hydrogel and the thermal‐responsive actuation of the LCN along with the LCH when both layers are aligned or misaligned, enabling programmable, light‐driven ...

Influences of the metastability of austenitic stainless steels on the wear behavior in a radial shaft seal system

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
Wear tests were conducted on shafts manufactured from three commercial austenitic stainless steels – AISI 303, 347, 904L – within the context of a sealing contact of radial shaft seal system, where wear resistance is critical to preventing leakage ...
