DFT-Based Design and Characterization of Organic Chromophores Based on Symmetric Thio-Bridge Quinoxaline Push–Pull (STQ-PP) for Solar Cells

open access: yesMolecules
Organic solar cells require molecular materials with broad absorption and proper energy-level alignment to maximize photon harvesting and charge transport; in this context, this work focuses on the computational design and characterization of π ...

Thermoresponsive Gels [PDF]

open access: yesGels, 2017
Thermoresponsive gelling materials constructed from natural and synthetic polymers can be used to provide triggered action and therefore customised products such as drug delivery and regenerative medicine types as well as for other industries. Some materials give Arrhenius-type viscosity changes based on coil to globule transitions. Others produce more

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

DFT Study of Functionalized Benzoxazole-Based D–π–A Architectures: Influence of Ionic Fragments on Optical Properties and Their Potential in OLED and Solar Cell Devices

open access: yesMolecules
This theoretical work investigates the linear (absorption and emission) and nonlinear (first hyperpolarizability and TPA) optical properties of donor–π–acceptor (D–π–A) molecular architectures based on functionalized benzoxazoles, with potential ...

Simple analysis of gel images with IOCBIO Gel

open access: yesBMC Biology, 2023
Abstract Background Current solutions for the analysis of Western Blot images lack either transparency and reproducibility or can be tedious to use if one has to ensure the reproducibility of the analysis. Results Here, we present an open-source gel image analysis program ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Functionalized Benzoxazole–Pyrimidine Derivatives for Deep Bioimaging: A DFT Study of Molecular Architecture and One- and Two-Photon Absorption

open access: yesPhyschem
This study investigates how different substituents modulate the electronic structure and optical properties of seven derivatives of Pyrimidine-benzoxazole (FB.01) in DMSO, aiming to optimize their performance as deep bioimaging probes.

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.
