Purification, Characterization, and Antioxidant Activity of Polysaccharides Isolated from Cortex Periplocae

open access: yesMolecules, 2017
In this study, crude Cortex Periplocae polysaccharides (CCPPs) were extracted with water. CCPPs were decolored with AB-8 resin and deproteinated using papain-Sevage methods.

Molar mass determination of lignins and characterization of their polymeric structures by multi-detector gel permeation chromatography

open access: yesJournal of Analytical Science and Technology, 2021
Molar masses, Mark-Houwink-Sakurada (MHS) exponents, and refractive index increments (dn/dc) for three lignins were determined without derivatization by multi-detector gel permeation chromatography (GPC) in dimethylformamide (DMF) with 0.05 M lithium ...

Magnetically Guided Mechanoactive Mineralization Scaffolds for Enhanced Bone Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A 3D‐printed ‘rebar‐concrete’ inspired scaffold (PGS‐P@MGel) synergizes spontaneous biomineralization with magneto‐mechanical stimulation through PDA@Fe3O4‐embedded hydrogel. This dual biointerface activates Piezo1/β‐catenin/YAP mechanotransduction axis, enhancing BMSCs osteogenesis and angiogenesis simultaneously.

Metal‐Organic Nanosheet Gels: Hierarchically Porous Materials for Selective Loading and Differential Release

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A suspension of metal‐organic nanosheets was centrifuged to form self‐healing gels with a hierarchically porous structure. The prepared gels were used to selectively capture small molecules from solutions and differentially release them based on their size and charge. Abstract Metal‐organic nanosheets (MONs) are intrinsically porous 2D materials with a

Water Influence in Poly(epichlorohydrin) Synthesis: An intermediate to Energetic Propellants

open access: yesJournal of Aerospace Technology and Management, 2012
Poly(epichlorohydrin) was synthesized using anhydrous and hydrate stannic chloride, separately, as initiator. Reactions were conducted in the presence of a diol at 70o C.

Highly Sensitive Electrochemical Biosensor Based on Hairy Particles with Controllable High Enzyme Loading and Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
For the first time, a highly sensitive electrochemical biosensor based on SiO2‐based hairy particles with a grafted PDMAEMA polymer brush containing a quantifiable and large amount of immobilized Laccase is reported. The fabricated biosensor exhibits a sensitivity of 0.14 A·m⁻¹, a limit of detection (LOD) of 0.1 µm, and a detection range of 0.3–750 µm,

Functionalized Lignin Derivatives as Melt‐Spinnable Precursors for Carbon Fiber Production without Stabilization

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
By turning off hydrogen bonds by bulky ethyl cinnamate ester derivatization, softwood kraft lignin can flow under elevated temperatures, providing tough fiber in the melt for high take‐up speed. Subsequently, lignin ethyl cinnamate derivatives are readily stabilized with only dilute nitric acid leading to direct carbonized fiber with outstanding ...

Molecular Engineering of Coacervate Network Binders for Stable Silicon‐Based Anodes in Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A coacervate charged polymer network is designed to regulate Coulomb interactions for stabilizing silicon anodes. By tuning electrostatic interactions, the binders enhance adhesion, stress dissipation, and interfacial stability. The binder with the strongest Coulomb interactions enables high areal capacities and stable full‐cell cycling with Ni‐rich ...

Molecular Weight and Monosaccharide Composition of Astragalus Polysaccharides

open access: yesMolecules, 2008
Two polysaccharides (APS-I and APS-II) were isolated from the water extract of Radix Astragali and purified through ethanol precipitation, deproteination and by ion-exchange and gel-filtration chromatography.
