Genome-Wide Gene Expression Analysis in Response to Organophosphorus Pesticide Chlorpyrifos and Diazion in C.Elegans

open access: yes, 2010
pesticides (OPs) were originally designed to affect the nervous system by inhibiting the enzyme acetylcholinesterase, an important regulator of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine.

Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

The transcription complex Prep1-Pbx1 regulates the gene expression of tyrosine phosphatases and impairs insulin action in liver cells

open access: yes, 2009
Prep1 is an homeodomain transcription factor belonging to the MEINOX subfamily of the TALE (three amino acid loop extension) proteins. Prep1 forms DNA-independent dimeric complexes with all isoforms of the Pbx homeodomain transcription factor, enhancing ...

Gene-regulatory activity of alpha-tocopherol.

open access: yes, 2010
Vitamin E is an essential vitamin and a lipid soluble antioxidant, at least, under in vitro conditions. The antioxidant properties of vitamin E are exerted through its phenolic hydroxyl group, which donates hydrogen to peroxyl radicals, resulting in ...

Determination of breeding approaches for improvement of economic traits in Indian muskmelon (Cucumis melo L.) through assessment of gene action

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Plant Breeding
Muskmelon is an important cucurbitaceous vegetable due to its excellent taste, flavour, aroma and other quality traits present in its fruit. Architectural phenotypes of this crop have great potential to increase its fruit yield at the commercial level ...

α‐Synuclein aggregation landscape from phase separation to neurotoxic intermediates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Alpha‐synuclein aggregation in Parkinson's disease involves a complex landscape of transient intermediates, including oligomers, fibrils and liquid–liquid phase separation (LLPS). A view is emerging in which LLPS maturation into solid‐like condensates may contribute to the formation of neurotoxic species.

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.
